When we use the cold water it is just trickling in. I cleaned the water inlet screen for the cold water on the back of the machine but it is still only a trickle. Is there another screen inside the back panel?

Cold water trickles in and fills up slowly

You either have a water pressure/flow problem or the inlet screen in your inlet valve is clogged. Remove the cold water hose and use a bucket to check if you have good pressure and flow. If that is good, look and clean the inlet valve screen for debris. Hope this helps.

Cold water rinse doesn't come in very hard. Just a trickle. Warm works fine. I just had the water shut off due to a water main break which is now fixed and water is back on. Warm wash fills fine. Cold...

Remove the cold water hose and check the screens for debris and clean. Also look inside the water inlet valve where the hose connects there should be a screen in there remove and clean. If this doesn't fix it the water inlet valve will need replacing. Here is a link that will walk you thru cleaning and inspecting the valve http://appliancehelponline.com/topwaterinletvideo.html

Cold water is trickling in want to clean filter/screen where and how too

There is probably a filter built into the inlet valve where the hose screws onto it. There may be a filter/seal where the hose screws onto the tap. If there is water pressure to the inlet valve, it could be that the inlet valve itself is faulty........Generally a simple job.......Good luck...Nomess

Only a trickle of cold water coming into washing machine

If there is no other restriction, the water should flow freely from the hose into a bucket as a test. If good, then it must be a restriction in the solenoid valve. Some can be disassembled and cleaned but the valve assembly is not expensive to replace.

For low water volume - or "Trickling" effect...

1. Turn off the water supply to both hoses.
2. Remove hoses (one at a time so you don't get them confused)
3. On the washer side - look for a removeable screen inside wher you just removed the hose.
4. Using a small screwdriver - pop out the screen and reverse-flush it/clean it. It will likely be full of sediment and calcium deposits from your pipes.
5. Replace the inlet screens.
6. Re-fit the hose to the machine.
7. Turn on water supply valves.
8. re-try.

Whirlpool washer approximately 2 1/2 year old

The screen at the cold water inlet is clogged. Cut off the cold water line and unscrew the line to the washer at the washer. Use a flathead screwdriver and pry out the metal screen that is visible Wash it out in a sink and re-install it. Re-attach the water line, turn it on and your'e good to go. If not you will need a new water inlet valve. These are the only things that can cause your problem unless there is a problem with your cold water supply pressure. Good Luck!!!!!
