You have to put a lot of weight on the heat sync for it to boot up

E74 - This error is caused by a cold solder joint under the GPU, (H)ANA-chip or in between. Mostly it is one of the outer solder balls on the side facing the (H)ANA chip so a shim increases the chanced of success quite a bit. I've almost the same problem. When the system turns on the monitor doesn't sync. After a variable trials with down/up the sync is enabled and the computer starts.A very clear event occurs : when the monitor can''t sync ( and system doesn't boot)you can hear very clear a high fan rotation. When I look/hear in the system the Isuspect the cpu fan. The system boots ( monitor syncs) when the fan rotationgoes from high to low. So the system hangs on an internal check on the rotation speed of the cpu fan.I've googled a lot , but until now doesn't find an answer . Possibilties which I think about : replace cpu fan , clean cpu fun ( but it looks clean).I cannot measure the fan rotation speed when the system is hanging. At normal rotation all info can retrieved witth the program cpu-z.Did you already have a solution ?

I had a similar problem with excessive fan noise on my Dell Dimension 5150. The solution was to replace the worn heat sync compound that was between the cpu and the heat sync itself. (£0.99 ebay)

get a new board or get it fixed,
try different batteries
dont put any unessessary weight on it
dont stomp on it or jump
be gentle with it
get a new peice so no re-scyn
make sure its not too close too the wii

Here is how you do it. 1st remove the door & hinge, 2nd remove the covers on the screw where the door sits that holds down the control panel. 3rd remove two screws holding the door latch in place. Remove the spring & wire holding the boot on and pull the boot loose from the plastic holder Remove the plastic boot holder. You will now see the boot where it attaches to the tub. There is a spring and wire that holds that on. At the top there is a tab on the seal, grab it and pull towards you. The boot will come off. To reassemble I remove the counter weights(concrete weights) from the tub and put the boot firmly into the slot on the tub. Now reinstall the rear spring. Be sure to also reinstall the counter weights if removed and torque them tight around 25 to 30 foot pounds. Reassemble the front panel and put the spring retainer back on. Tools needed T20 torx driver, 13mm wrench, and needle nose plyers.

cut it off and dont worry about it.put on a new boot clean greese.you will not notice anything with that off the axel.i have done it many times
