Podcasts I am an illiterate ipod users have only listened other peoples, they scare me........ I am interested in becoming a litterate ipod user, using it mostly to download podcast to listen (only) while I am exercising I have check some for the memory used on some of the podcasts approximately 30 MG used per podcast. What I am wondering is that since the podcasts are in video form and the shuffle doesn't have a screen can I listen only to the podcast on the shuffle? And approximately how many podcast could it hold?

Since entering the marketplace and revolutionizing the way people experienced personal audio, Apple's iPod has become the unquestioned leader in MP3 players. Available in several different models and versions including the original iPod, iPhone, iPod Nano and iPod Touch the iPod allows people to listen to any number of songs with just the click of the button. However, as is the case with numerous electronics, certain iPod users encounter issues with their device, particularly sound issues. These issues range from buzzing sounds through the headphones to low volume quality to no sound at all. Fortunately, there are ways to attempt to remedy these sound issues.

Volume and Song Selection Oftentimes, those iPod users listening to heavier music (such as rock or hip-hop) will encounter a buzzing noise when playing their device at maximum or near-maximum volume. Try lowering the volume a bit, as this will most likely remedy your buzzing issues. Also, try playing a different song from a different artist at the same volume to ensure sound quality is optimal across the board. Check the Headphones Before attempting to diagnose an iPod's sound issues, ensure the iPod itself (and not the headphones) are the culprit for these sound issues. Do so by disconnecting headphones from the iPod and playing them on another device, such as another iPod, a PC or laptop. If the quality is still not optimal, the headphones (not the iPod) are likely the reason for low sound quality. Also try connecting an iPod to an iPod listening dock. If the sound quality is optimal, but not so when connected to headphones, that would also indicate headphones as the cause of low sound quality. b> Reset the iPod Sometimes, simply resetting an electronic device such as an iPod, digital cable box or video game system will remedy the solution, as it gives the device a chance to reboot. Try resetting the iPod to remedy whatever sound problem you may be encountering, whether it's no sound or less-than-optimal sound. Not all iPods are reset the same way, so consult the user manual (either paper form or through Apple.com support) to learn how to reset a particular type of iPod. Adjust Sound Settings If sound quality is less than optimal, including too much bass, not enough bass, poor acoustics or any number of other issues, try altering an iPod's system settings to correct the issue. Do so by going to the "Settings" key on the main iPod menu, then going to "EQ." From there, test certain settings to see if they may correct the iPod's issue. EQ settings allow users to set their music to a certain type of genre (in terms of how the music is delivered), as well as lowering bass, increasing bass and altering acoustics. b> Make Sure Headphones Are Fully Connected As simple as it sounds, sometimes the reason iPods have no sound at all is because their headphones become somewhat detached from the device. Such is the case with physical activities such as exercising or doing yard work. If no sound comes through the iPod, make sure the headphones are plugged in all the way to ensure the lack of sound is not a simple oversight. Consult Apple Support Whatever the sound issue, if iPod users have tried everything possible to remedy the problem with no results, they can call Apple support or visit an Apple retailer to help further diagnose the issue. The issue could be a simple fix or might be so severe that purchasing a new iPod is the best course to travel.

Use iPod shuffle to:
- Load songs for listening on the go
- Listen to podcasts, downloadable radio-style shows delivered over the Internet
- Listen to audiobooks purchased from the iTunes Store or audible.com
- Store or back up files and other data, using iPod shuffle as an external disk

Install iTunes in your Lap.. the connect the iPod to the computer using the doc and add the songs to the Music Library then to the iPod

You will need to plug you nano into your computer and open iTunes. Once iTunes has recognized your iPod, click on the iPods name. There should be a page with a picture of your iPod, at the top of that page there will be a tab labeled "Podcasts," click on it. On that page there will be a check box with a drop-down menu, this is where we will change your podcast settings. The drop-down menu controls which podcasts are synced to you iPod:
All - This will sync all of your podcasts whether played or unplayed 1,3,5,10 most recent - this syncs only the (x) most recently added podcasts to your iPod All unplayed - if you have not played the podcast yet iTunes will sync them to your iPod 1,3,5,10 most recent unplayed - syncs the (x) most recently added unplayed podcasts to your iPod 1,3,5,10 least recent unplayed - syncs the (x) oldest unplayed podcasts to your iPod all new - syncs all of the newest podcasts 1,3,5,10 most recent new - syncs the (x) most recent new podcasts 1,3,5,10 least recent new - syncs the (x) least recent new podcast
those last two are a bit confusing, basically if you add a lot of podcasts you can either get the (x) newest of that set or the (x) least newest (hope that makes sense).
The second drop-down menu controls whether those setting apply to every podcast, or only the ones that you select in the menu underneath that.

Try updating the drivers for the soundcard. The pitch change could be a sampling rate error.

A Nano is a smaller model player. Usually they range in memroy size of 2 gig up to 8 gig. The units are smaller because they use flash memory rather than a hard drive. They were desinged to be a more cost effective unit than the standard size Ipod and there easier to carry around if you are using them for working out. The current nano model can play video which is a new feature to that line.

A Standard IPod contains a small hard drive and varries in size from 35 gig up to 160 gig. Most people can put their whole music library onto one. Thousands of songs and videos can be put onto one. If you have a Tivo and your PC is connected to it, you can put tv shows on it.

The shuffle is a smaller player. It contains 1 gig of flash memory. It has no display but the size of unit is nice to have for audio books, podcasts, or music.

The nice thing about Ipods over MP3 players is that most musicians in the world use ITunes to sell their music. You can buy one song at a time or whole CD worth of songs. You can take CDs, load them up in your computer and put them on your hard drive and transfer them to your Ipod. You can purchase music tunes for 99 cents a piece. Videos can be purchase for 1.99 a piece. Most Tv programs that are out there available for purchase on ITunes. You can use them on audible books as well.

You can download and subscribe to podcasts. Most are free but there are a few out there that are not. They cover a vast variety of subjects that interest people. I do a weekly podcast covering local news in the Seattle are for out of towners.

A standard MP3 play can read your CDs once there installed in the computer and converted to an MP3 format. Apple files are done in a different format called aac which is only compatible with there players. Some MP3 players can show video if they can accept MP4 files. You can download them to the player if you have a program that can convert them to MP4 format. If you need to purchase songs, you can go through Rapsody. They handle most of the MP3 material for players that are not Apple and have a large selection as well. Audible books uses just about every MP3 player out there.

Also, do you have your iPod to sync manually or automatically? Change it to manually if it is auto, then you can put the podcasts from your library onto your podcast folder on the ipod in iTunes.
