Waste ink absorber is full - replace What is procedure to replace?

The first thing to do is remove the plastic covers on your printer, usually 2 to 6 screws. When you take some-thing like this apart it is always best to use some sort of screw divider, so as not to get them mixed up or get them lost.

The ink tanks are normally located on the rear of the printer, behind the ink head. The waste ink tank consists of 4 or 5 sponges. I suggest at this stage to put on a pair of those disposable gloves and wear old clothes. There will be ink every where.

Place the ink pads on some old news paper for now, then using tissue paper clean out the plastic hovel from which they came. Now rinse out the sponges under running water, squeeze them out, to get out all the ink. Dry them off in the sun for the day.

Reinstall them and put the printer back together.

Now click here to download the counter reset software.

Turn on your printer and install the software, run the software and reset waste ink counter.

Presto your printer is working again.
Happy printing

2 of the lights just under on off switch(2 to the left) . were it says quantity ythere is a E symbol showing, nothing happens when you connest camera either.

You need to reset your printer. Google search for "indoreset for r230", that is the program that you can use to reset your printer. Or you can use the SSC Service Utility, just search for it in the net. You particularly need to reset the waste ink pad counter.

After you reset your printer, check the back of your r230, you will see there a small access cover with a screw. Unscrew it. Take a look inside and you will see a tube connected to the waste ink tank, try to disconnect it from the waste ink tank, carefully pulling it out the access window. Do not force it out completely, you will be able to pull out only about an inch of the tube. When the tube is out, get another tube (silicon or plastic) around 6 inches long would do (12 inches will be fine)that would fit in that tube you've just pulled out, then get an empty plastic bottle with a cover, puncture a hole in the cover and put the other end of the tube in that hole, that plastic bottle will be your new waste ink tank. You are doing all these so you wouldn't have to dismantle your printer to remove and replace the waste ink pads inside your printer.

After doing all these you can now use your printer again. You just need to empty the plastic bottle regularly. And when the time comes to reset your printer again, just use the program again and that's it.

Error Number: 1700 The waste ink absorber is almost full. What is it? Where do I get a replacement? How do I replace one?

Not all the ink that gets pulled out of an ink-cartridge reaches the paper. Some of the "ink" is "waste". As such, it goes into an "absorber" (a sponge). The electronics inside the printer "predict" when the absorber is getting full, based on the number of pages you print, and the time between printing pages.

So, take your printer to a qualified printer technician.
They will empty the absorber, or replace it,
and "reset" the electronics inside the printer,
to indicate that the absorber has become "empty".

How do I empty Waste Ink Absorber?>

Please check the following steps:

Step 1: Open your printer.
Step 2: Wear gloves to protect your hands from Ink.
Step 3: Locate the Waste Ink Pads on the inside of your printer. They are on the right hand side and are quite small.
Step 4: You can remove the pads and the holder with a gentle pull.
Step 5: Using a tissue, soak up as much ink as possible and clean the area around the waste ink area.
Step 6: There is one more waste holder in the right back bottom of the printer. A kind of sponge. There are few screws and plastic parts to be removed and this sponge needs to be washed, dryed and placed again. Be careful and patient. This is no understatement. On the iP1500 this requires the dismantling of most of the printer. Take a photograph (even with your cell phone) so you can trace back your steps. On the iP1500 the drive motor on the side (Just behind the waste ink pads) has to be removed to get to the main sponge. You also need to take care as you lift the slide/carriage. Below this you find 5 little springs.
Step 7: Carefully replace the holder and the pads. Close printer.
Step 8: Whilst printer is disconnected from the mains power, press and hold the power button and reconnect to ac power.
Step 9: Release the power button.
Step 10: Press the power button again.

MP 610 is leaving black ink streaks the length of the page on back of paper. I have used the printer maintenance to clean the rollers, ink head etc several times and have installed a new black ink...

That sounds like the ink is coming off the waste ink absorbers. Try blotting the excess ink off the bottom of the printer with paper towels. The ink absorbers are small pads at the bottom of the paper feed path. With work, you can pull them pads and rinse them clean and then reinstall them when dry. Unfortunately, this can take almost disassembling the printer. Simply absorbing some of the excess is a temporary step.

I hope this helps.

(there is a counter that indicates when (based on average use) the waste ink absorber is full. The printer will stop working when that number is reached. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a reset for this model that actually works.)

My canon ip1000 printer does't want to respond. it wrote "waste ink absorber is full". what i should do?

Well under where the Ink heads "Park" there is a "waste ink absorber" pad type thing. This needs to be "emptied". You need to look in tour manual for exact instructions.

How to fix waste in full

Peel too many apples for a Thanksgiving pie, and the "waste" (the apple-peels) will fill your garbage-bin. So, you have to empty-out the garbage-bin, or replace the full garbage-bin with a brand-new _empty_ garbage bin.

Print too many pages, and the "waste" ink will fill the miniature waste-bin inside the printer. Take the printer to a qualified technician, and have him/her either empty the bin, or replace the sponge in the bin with a fresh sponge.
