Format xd card error - Cameras

Whenever i try and delete any pictures or videos it says format error. But when i take the memmory stick out of the camera i can do whatever. Maybe its because i took to my long videos. And when i try to format it , like delete everything at once it says format error. I know its not the camera but its the memory stick. Whenever i try and delete any photos or videos it says format error. I also tried to "format it" ig uess like delete all the pictures at once after this format error incident.
