I just went though this problem last night. Follow these steps to minimize the potential work.

First ask if the dishwasher pump is working and if it is then proceed.

1 your dishwasher's dirty water empties into your kitchen drain or garbage disposal. First make sure water is draining properly out of the kitchen sink. If not, then you have found your problem.
2. examine the hose under the sink that leads from the dishwasher to the kitchen sink drain looking for kinks.
3. Assuming neither steps 1 or 2 solve the problem then it is time to get to work on the dishwasher. Get as much water out of the diswasher as possible - a paper cup works great, then Find a You Tube video that shows you how to take apart your dishwasher so you can get to the drain. (I found this video to provide good high-level instructions Clean all filters and examine the food chopper. Then try draining the dishwasher.
4. This is the step that solved my problem. Recover the food chopper and pour about a cup of bleach into the standing water and leave it alone for 30 minutes. If it drains then reassemble the dishwasher and run it at least once to clean out the bleach before adding your dirty dishes. If it doesn't work then you can try pulling out the dishwasher and checking the rest of the hose for blockage OR call a qualified repair person.

Filled rinse compartment with drano how to get it removed

If you accidentally poured Drano into the rinse compartment of your dishwasher, you should try to remove it as soon as possible to prevent any damage to your appliance. Here are some steps you can take:
  1. Turn off the power to your dishwasher by unplugging it or turning off the circuit breaker that supplies power to the appliance.
  2. Wear rubber gloves to protect your hands and avoid contact with the Drano.
  3. Use a plastic or rubber spatula to scoop out as much of the Drano as possible. Be sure to dispose of it in a safe manner, following the instructions on the Drano label.
  4. Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe down the inside of the rinse compartment. Be sure to remove all traces of the Drano.
  5. Rinse the compartment with cool water to flush out any remaining Drano. You may need to repeat this step several times to ensure that all the Drano is removed.
  6. Once you are sure that all the Drano has been removed, you can turn the power back on and resume using your dishwasher as usual.
Note: It's important to use caution when handling Drano, as it can be hazardous to your health if ingested or inhaled. Always read and follow the instructions on the label carefully. If you experience any adverse reactions to Drano, seek medical attention immediately.

Dishwasher flooded

That happened to us and our plumber came. He said our pipe under the sink was bent up so the water wasn't draining properly. Also, check for clogs. Use Drano or a snake to get all the gunk out of the drain.

Water comes into dishwasher while not in use

Try checking the drain hose and make sure it is not backed up. When it is, all the water won't drain out. You may need to use Drano on your main pipe as well. Don't hesitate to ask me anything. I am here to help.
