Flashing the logo means that the LCD is fine and kicking. You must get the phone's firmware reinstalled. The reason of flashing Verizon Logo is that it cant read or follow the instructions beyond the logo stage. So, give it the stuff to read or follow. Reinstall the firmware and you will find that everything moves smoothly.
when you take the battery off, is there water damage to it? (is the indicator fully pink or red, instead of Xs on a white background?)
the first thing you may want to try is to replace the battery...
this phone is already obsolete, so you may have a difficult time finding a battery, but when you do, it should be cheap.
however, the chocolate 8500 is one of the most notorious phones when it comes to problems. it appears that the charging port is actually working, as you are able to get the phone to do something when plugged in...
remember in the future to always download backup assistance (this is free as long as you are signed up for my verizon) as it will save your contacts online and you will be able to re=download them onto a new phone if anything were to happen
the Lg phones have a mean bug goin around in them call up C.C and ask if u can get a replacement ill stay far away from Lg or when you get one update as fast as you can
The white screen is most often caused by a defective "flex cable" (Connects the keypad section to the display section). When this happened to my girlfriends VX 8500 I found a new cable on eBay for $10 (came with screwdriver and opening tool) and replaced the cable and the issue was resolved. Hope this helps
i have a very similar problem, my phone just shows the LG logo and switches on and off, and the touch pad comes on but that is all. i don't have a warranty any more though..
Ok, I found something that worked. I read in another post that you can reformat the phone with a certain key stroke while the phone is off. I know in this case you will probably have to take out the battery, reinsert it, then do it before turning on the phone. I also had the phone plugged into the charger. I don't know if it helped or had nothing to do with it. Just thought I'd mention it in case it comes to that. Just hold down the * button, the 3 button, and the ok button. Then turn on the phone. Make sure you're holding all three of the buttons at the same time. I held them for about 5 seconds or so. It booted up normally after that.
