Toshiba 36AFX61 We have recently acquired a used Toshiba 36AFX61 TV. We are able to get power and access menus; however, we cannot get a picture or sound. How do we hook it directly to cable without a cable converter box. The manual only instructs on how to connect to a converter box or VCR. The TV did not come with a remote, so we ordered the Toshiba Miracle remote, which seems to work but still no picture or sound. We've been trying for a while. HELP..... Thanks.

Just Connect signal to tv and run autoprogram. Or use video input jacks from converter to tv ( yellow, white and red video in ) and select tv/video on tv pannel front ( don't need remote control) I hope this work for you.

Toshibe 36AFX61 36" TV

I uncovered the problem. The "analog tuner" seems to have gone bad. The part is $25 -$36. The set can still be used however. I just removed the coaxial cable from ANT 1 in the back of the TV (this is what I believe has become defective)which was going to a VCR. I then just used composite cables(red, white, yellow)to bring the signal directly to the TV from the cable box, rather than the VCR. All works however, will replace the defective part.

Picture shifted and ghost image

Try using an input other than the tuner. I.e a DVD player or game system on the front inputs. If the picture looks OK on the other input, your tuner is damaged and will need replaced, if it looks bad also, try unplugging the TV for 5 minutes and then go through the setup process in the menus. If this fails seek a repair shop.

Vertical output problem

you probably just need to resolder the vertical output IC. It will be mounted on a heat sinc. probably 7-10 pins. Part number may start with "LA" like LA7845 or similar, there are others though. You will probably see the rings around the solder joints on the bottom of the board. Good Luck

36afx61 vert problem

What is the vert problem? Usually, a break in the foil indicates separation of ground planes, but they will converge to a single point somewhere. If there is solder that ties the planes together, this may suggest that someone has modified the board. Again, what is the problem with the TV?

Toshiba 36afx61 tv

You have a cold solder connection on the vertical output IC or in the sweep power supply that feeds the voltages to the vertical output IC. You can download a service manual from here: http://www.servicemanuals.net/results.aspx?type=SM&brand=0&model=36AFX61 Good Luck

Toshiba 43a10

This problem could be the vertical circuit falure, the sweep circuit falure or the video circuit has a fault. Depending on the age of the set will determine on how much you would spend to have this set repaired. Call out an authorized Toshiba servicer, as they would be able to give you a better estimate as they already or should already have the service manual and parts. Good Luck
