I purchase the lifetime updates for my Nuvi 200W GPS and now it will not allow me to download any updates on to it due to not enough memory. What can I do. I am pretty upset because I spent the money for the lifetime update.

Unfortunately the garmin 200W, like most of the garmin satnavs, doesn't have much storage space so you should be given the option to download part of the map only to your satnav. To get the full map the only option is to download the map to your computer. When you go to download the map from the garmin website select OPTIONS. In the options menu select download to computer. This installs a program called Mapinstall on your computer which contains the map. If you need to use more of the map you can then either replace the part installed on your satnav by running the mapinstall program from your computer or install it to an SD card. Note however that while garmin say that nuvi satnavs support SD cards up to 16 Gb some cards don't seem to work in them. Before spending all the time it takes to put your map on the card test it in your satnav first by putting music or pictures on it to see if it works

How can upgrade my garmin nuvi 255w gps?

Hello,

Using the Garmin WebUpdater will update the operating software.
http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

Map updates subscriptions are available as lifetime or onetime updates and are registered to the map that is installed on the Nuvi.

http://www.gpscity.com/garmin-numaps-update-city-navigator-nt-2012-north-america.html

The Nuvi 255w is an older unit and is probably due to be replaced. Once the battery dies on the unit, it can not be replaced easily.

There are a number of Garmin GPSs that come with lifetime map updates.

Free update my gps nuvi 255/1bv655463

Hello,

If you are looking for map upgrades there are a couple options.
One is to purchase the update on DVD then load it to the unit.
Two Purchase a Lifetime Subscription to mapping which would allow you to update the GPS every 3 months.
You can also obtain a onetime update VIA download on Garmin.com.
For best prices check www.gpscity.com

Hello,

Some units do have memory limitations that wont let them accept the most current map upgrade my recommendation is contact garmin and have them instruct you on how to apply your update to an SD card or often they can provide partial maps that would allow you to load most of NA on the GPS.

Hope this helps!

I have a 200 nuvi gps, it always takes me the long way to my destinaotion, how do I update it?

If you are willing to spend $89.00 you can purchase a lifetime maps update/upgrade through the Garmin website. All you have to do is log into their website - www.garmin.com - connect your Garmin to your computer with the USB cable and purchase the upgrade. You might want to consider purchasing a new Garmin that comes with lifetime maps as your 200 is an older unit and its life may be short. A new unit, like a 1300LM, runs $139.99 at Best B**, as of 01/30/11, will come with a new fresh battery and the newest maps pre-loaded and it will allow you to update those maps FREE for the life of the unit. These ideas might help you wayward travels. GOOD LUCK

Free map update for garmin200 nuvi

Unfortunately there are no reliable free updates. You can purchase either a one time upgrade pack, or a lifetime pack that is good for 4 free updates per year. Given the relative price difference I would almost definitely go with the lifetime pack over the one time.

How do I get free map updates for my garmin nuvi 200w

Garmin allows you one free update as long as you download it from their website within 60 days of your purchase date. After that they will charge you either $100.00 per year for updates or $200.00 for lifetime updates.

To download the latest unit software visit Garmin website: www.garmin.com/webupdater
After installing WebUpdater once from the Garmin website, perform all future software updates from your computer. Simply connect your compatible Garmin device to your computer, then run WebUpdater from your computer's "Start Menu" by selecting "Start", "Programs", "Garmin", and finally "WebUpdater"
REMEMBER: It takes hours to do a complete a map update.
Unless you bought the Lifetime maps you may have to pay for current maps.
