Whirlpool Gold icemaker not working Model GD5SHAXLB02

Ice maker stopped working.. I noticed that ice was fully formed and appeared to be ready to drop but never did. I haven't heard water filling up either. I read other posts about the "arm" but our model doesn't have the "arm".

    I took out the ice maker and found that the little white dial had a piece broken off of it. I'm wondering what that little dial is called and if you think that it would fix the problem if replaced. I also noticed that the coating on the ice tray (where the water freezes) is coming off. I'm thinking maybe I need to replace the entire unit. What do you think?

    Our icemaker is freezing the ice but not dropping it and the coating of the ice tray (where the ice freezes) is also coming off. We will take it out and get the ice out and it will work maybe once or twice and then stop again.

    Water will not go to the icemaker--

    I have 2 door Whirlpool Gold 25.6 cu. ft. Model GS6NBEXRL00 Stainless Steel fridge, the ice maker creates ice, however when we press crushed or cubed on door, it will not dispense any ice. I can hear a very light noise as it's responding but will not dispense the ice? Any suggestions on what is wrong or what I can do myself to avoid paying Sears the ludicrous fixture charges? Water dispenser works fine. Any help will be appreciated

Try this and add tap water to the empty ice maker. Turn it on if off and if after the water freezes the ice maker cycles dumping the ice into ice bucket and if the ice maker does not refill with water on its own you will need to replace the=> 2188746 Water Inlet Valve

Change out your ice maker. If your icemaker has worked for 6 years, you got lucky! They normally have to be changed out every couple of years. We have an unlimited inventory of appliance parts for Whirlpool, so please call us to send your parts out and we'll get them out right away!

Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator (GS5SHAXNLOO) Ice maker not running, some ice in maker melted together
I have the same model. This has happened to me several times (usually when the door was kept ajar without notice).
Simply open the door, take a common hairdryer and blow at high speed (hottest also) all around the area of where you can feel the ice in the tray, but hasn't dumped yet. It will usually take about 5-8 minutes of consistently moving back and forth around that area. What has happened is the lines bringing water to the trays have frozen over. When you "thaw" them out, the ice made will dump in about 45 minutes. When you hear the ice fall, you will know it's in working order again. I have NOT heard this is a "flawed" icemaker, only that it is hypersensitive to freezing lines when a door is left ajar. In your case, to prevent this from happening again. If you shut the icemaker off again, make SURE you turn off the source of the water feed BEFORE you turn off the ice maker. By doing this, the lines will empty as it makes it's last tray of water. Try that - very confident it will fix your problem!

ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE ON MY WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE
I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.

Ice Maker not working
Start by cleaning the condenser with a brush and a shop vac. Then get some nickleguard ice machine cleaner and wash the units plate's down going by package directions, then retry before calling a tech. It may start working but if it does not then it may save you some money by having the unit clean before the tech gets there. Ice machines are not a DIY repair. Sowwy
