Look for a fuse for the Cruise Control and compass.
Also, the fan for the heating and air conditioning usually wears out (brushes get worn out) and possibly requires a relay as well to make it work reliably.
I don't think the two conditions Cruise Control vs. the Ventilation Fan are related.

Cruise control stops working when heater/defroster fan quits working

one possibility either the cruise control is on the same circuit line with the heater/defroster fan and same fuse. try to solve the problem with the fan and you will notice the difference.

Electrical

The radio and a/c are on two different circuits other than both being powered thru the key switch. But they both share the same ground connections.
Its possible the two problems are not connected.
I would check the ground circuits for the radio and the blower motor. You may need a shop manual to find the wiring diagrams you will need.
On import cars, the blower motor speed is usually controlled by a resistor in the ground circuit. So if that ground is not good, the fan will run thru the relay but not thru the resistor. The high blower relay bypasses the resistor.

Light has gone out on the console display for compass and temp on the 2006 Toyota Tacoma headliner. Trying to find out which fuse to replace

2005-2009 Toyota Tacoma Overhead Console Fuse test
* does your cruise control work?
* do you brake lights work?
* does your dome light work?
The 10 amp IGI #2 fuse controls several other components including the dome light, cruise control, and
brake lights. If these are working but the compass is dim, intermittent, or dead then the control module
has gone bad.
This is a very common problem with the 05-09 Tacoma. The console is very prone to internal failure. I offer a reasonable repair service with a lifetime guarantee, check it out: www.autoclockrepair.com
There is a bunch of useful info there. Drop me an email if you have questions, thanks!

Have a problem with intermittent cruise control on my 2007 Honda Civci Sedan. Took it to the dealer 2x, still have issues. "Main Cruise Control" lit on dash but cruise control intermittently will not...

cruise control operation is reliant on the following
road speed sensor ( speedo or VSS sensor )
engine rpms tacho/ ignition coil/module problem
clutch pedal sensor (VSS in automatic )
gear selection position sensor ( not properly adjusted causing flickering of the selector light)
brake pedal sensor
bad ground wire connections
r all need to work together or the CC will stop working
nothing to do with vents and all that you mentioned.
wire connections and harness connections for the transmission are suspect
CC will not operate under certain engine rpms and road speed
