The smart tech installation sometimes does not install the usb-serial drivers correctly.
Open the Control Panel>Device Manager, right click yellow USB-Serial Controller and choose Update Driver Software. Choose Browse and point it to
for 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\SMART Technologies\Education Software\Drivers\x64
for 32bit(x86): C:\Program Files\SMART Technologies\Education Software\Drivers\x86
The driver will install and your board will now work.

I am using a SB-580 and trying to install Notebook 11 software on Windows 7 (64 bit) machines without success. I am having the same problem. Has there been a driver update or a patch to resolve this? The light flashes green red green red then stays red.

I have found issues too, several boards in our school were starting green and then red lighting straight away, with new software updates, on Windows 7. It's not resolved as yet but my work around was to unistall recent software and reinstall the older 10.7 version, then deselect the auto update. So far all running well. Let's hope smart include a patch for the problem soon.

I have installed windows 7 on p5vd-mx and it is not working fine what is the solution

This board may not support Windows 7 unless you install a video board with 128 MB or more of graphics memory. The onboard video appears to be only 64 MB. The main memory should be at 4GB even though Windows 7 will operate at a minimum of 1 GB(very slowly). I would first run the Microsoft Windows 7 Advisory software to see any compatibility issues. If it was my decision, I would get a new ASUS motherboard certified for Windows 7 with DDR3 memory, a 1GB graphics card, and a 1TB Hard Drive. Upgrading to Windows 7 requires a computer upgrade in most cases.

Compatability with windows 7

Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional is not compatible with Win 7
Adapted from Adobe FAQ

Acrobat 9.2 is the first version to support Windows 7. If you own Acrobat 7 or Acrobat 8, Adobe recommends you upgrade to Acrobat X through your Adobe reseller or the Adobe Store. Upgrading to Acrobat X will ensure compatibility with Windows 7 and access to the latest product enhancements. Enterprise customers with a Gold or Platinum support plan can contact Customer Support for upgrade tips and planning help.

Hope it helps.

I have a CD that contains PhotpStudio v2.0SE and VideoImpression v1.0. Have Windows 7 Ultimate. Cannot load software.

That version is only compatible through windows vista. It will not run on windows 7. You will need to upgrade to the newest version.

Is your ASUS Windows 7 compatable? Check at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/default.aspx

Since your distribution was school wide, there must be some IT department at the school that can assist you with this repair and advice.

Be aware, many manufacturers provide special features on their products (through software modification) that are not from Microsoft. You indicate this upgrade is from by the school but you don't say whether it is a standard or modified edition. Once you change the operating system, such as you have, those special XP - Asus features will disappear UNLESS (1) Asus includes the features with the new release of Win 7 Enterprise, andand yo have it, or (2), ASUS makes those features available to upgraders for download.

QB pro 2005 and Internet Explorer 8

As with all evolving software (as the well written ones are), as you update one you'll invariable need to update others. If you want QB Pro 2005 to work properly, you'll have to contact Intuit for any patches to their software to make it compatible with IE8. I suspect that Intuit would rather sell you an upgrade to their most recent version of QB Pro (hence lightening your wallet substantially). If there's functionality in IE8 that you absolutely HAVE to have, you'll probably be stuck paying for the QB Pro upgrade. Otherwise, you can simply stick with IE6 or 7 (as you've already reverted back to). Sorry there's not a better answer.
