I bought my son a laptop for christmas. he connected to the internet just fine at the time. about a month ago he could no longer connect to the internet. i have another laptop in the house that works fine with the router that we have, linksys. what could be the problem? i have also run a test on the laptop and the wireless says that its fine.
If you're having problem with the wireless connection check first if your son's laptop can still detect the network of your router.
Right click on the wireless icon on the bottom right hand>click view available wireless network>if network is showing connect to it.
I would reset the router most of those linksys will have a small hole in the back of them that say reset push it and let it go back to factory default see it that does not fix your prob

I keep losing internet connection with my wrt54gs router.I by passed the router and no problem.
had bellsouth was switch at&t can no longer go wireless. called 800-326-7114. told router needs reconfigering. need instruction
Since my computer stopped working I've tried to fix the problem by reinstalling the Linksys driver - at that time I followed a couple sets and it connected automatically.
I have 2 computers attached to my modem: 1 to the USB port and 1 to the LAN port, which is attached to the router. My laptop is linked to the Linksys router. All computers worked perfectly; however after working for a couple of weeks the computer attached to the LAN port stopped working.
Just to clarify - when you say he can't connect to the internet, do you mean that he can't connect to the outside internet after connecting to the wireless router, or that he can't collect to the wireless router at all?
