Sometimes it is a bad design - some makes do this.
You can help by doing these things -
Remove drawer for detergent - wash this in hot soapy water with an oxygenating cleaner.
Clean inside the drawer compartment with a foaming cleaner (carpet cleaner)
Clean inside folds of rubber on door seal with a strong detergent.
Put back drawer and load with a few discloths or a towel. Wash on hottest setting with 1 cup of white vinegar only, and a whole lemon in the drum - no soap.
When finished, remove contents and dry door seal - leave drawer and door open a little to vent.
Best to leave drawer and door open when not in use.
