You may use the PSAdmin software to configure your print server even if you don't know the IP address. The only requirement is that the DP-300U has to be in the same network (subnet) as your PC running PSAdmin. In the PSAdmin, you will then be able to view or change the IP address.

Here is the link to download PSAdmin:
http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DP%2D300U#apps

Remember that if you also have forgotten the Admin password, you will have to ship the unit to D-Link in order to have it factory reset.

Hi - in my three-computer, PC network environment, I just changed from a static IP to a dynamic IP situation, and can't use some of the printers. I think it's because my DP 300U print server is stuck on...

Shut down all the printers and computers.
Boot all the printers first to establishe their IP addresses.
Then turn on a computer and search the network group for what is online. All the printers should show as long as they have theit IP address.
Once their static IP is established the rest shall follow with what ever IP addresses are left. A dynamic IP setup grabs the available ip address and can conflict with a device that has that static IP if the static IP device is powered up after.

Configuring a Mac Book Pro laptop with a DP 300U Print Server

I connected my HP5MP to the DP-300U LPT1 port.
I configured my port on the DLink Configuration tab, giving it a name "hp5"
...The default login is at http://192.168.0.10/ user:admin pass:(there is no pass by default)

On my Mac, I go to System Preferences > Print & Fax
Click the + to add a new printer
Select the IP option
Choose the Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
Type in the Address: 192.168.0.10
Type in the Queue: hp5
Print Using: Generic PostScript Printer or better yet, 'Select a driver to use...'
and find the driver for your HP LaserJet 5MP.
Save it. Works like magic. ;-)

If you change the IP address or password on the DLink, just CYA and write it all down on a sticky note then tape the note under the DLink chassis. There's no reset button on the thing, and if you're o a Mac, you won't necessarily have access to the Windows utility to jack with the DP-300U. So, write it down, kidd-o!

D-Link DP-300U Print Server Problem:

So... you've messed up the IP address on your DP-300U and now you can't even access the web browser configuration page? Yes, it's happened to the best of us. Although I'm sure there are more elegant solutions, one fix is to reset the server to its factory settings and then reconfigure it from scratch. Given that there is no reset button on the DP-300U, resetting can be frustrating, especially if it's asking you for a password that you never created in the first place! Here's what you can do...

1) Install the psadmin software which came with the print server. If you lost the software, you should be able to find it on the web somewhere.
2) Start the software. It should automatically locate your print server.
3) Click on "factory reset". If it demands a password, and you don't know it, try "SYSxxxx" (where xxxx is the last four digits of the MAC address written on the underside of your server)
4) Dust off your Quick Install Guide and go through the unintuitive configuration process. If you no longer have your Quick Install Guide you can find it on D-Link's website.

Good luck!

D-Link DP-301U Problem

It should be fine as long as it is in the range that the router can recognize and that it doesn't conflict with another IP address used on another device. Usually on the networks I design I keep the printers on higher IP address so that they can be managed on a certain range.

Is this the wireless print server?

What specifically do you mean by PJL printer block?

Dp301p+ psadmin password was forgoten

Problems with your D-Link DP-300U LOST IP If you’re like me, you have a ton of computer **** laying around your house. Today I found an old D-Link DP-300U print server laying around and thought that I could put it to good use. The bad thing about these things is the fact that they do not have a hardware reset button on them, so if you forget the IP or the Password, you’re pretty much hosed… or so I thought. After doing some google searches for how to find a lost IP, I came back empty. The PS Admin program that D-Link publishes for use with this thing couldn’t find it on my network either. After some thinking, I came up with an idea.
If you know anything about networking and how networks work, you should have thought about this too. Get a Wireshark capture running. Unplug the power from the print server and then replug it. It’s going to send out an ARP on the network looking for it’s gateway which should be picked up by Wireshark. It should look like this:
capture.jpg In my case, it came back as 192.168.1.253. After changing the IP on my laptop to fit that subnet, I was able to log into it via it’s web interface (there was no password on it thank God!) and put it back to factory settings. Voila! What once was a brick is now a working print server!

I Copied it!
