WHen I touch contacts, dial or menu nothing happens. When I go to my call list and touch a contact it opens the contact 3 or 4 rows up.

Touchscreen phones simplify the wireless world, especially when combined with voice activation. Although making calls using voice commands was an option before touchscreens became available, the method used to set up this feature is different than it is for non-touchscreen units. It can take time to master the set of procedures that will get the feature working.
Step 1
Create a voice tag. Touch "Contacts" on the today screen. This opens the list of contacts on your phone. From here, do one of three things: you can hold your finger on the desired contact and then tap the "Add Voice Tag," you can select the desired contact, tap on "Menu" and then "Add Voice Tag," or you can tap the desired contact to open their personal screen and then hit "Menu" followed by "Add Voice Tag."
Step 2
Record the voice tag on your phone. Touch the phone number to which you wish to add a voice tag then touch the "Record" button. Record your voice tag for that contact. An icon will be displayed to the right of the number when the voice tag is complete. You can listen to your voice tag by touching the "Play" button on the screen or you can delete it to record a new one.
Step 3
Make a voice tag for a program. Tap the "Start" button on the phone. Go to "Settings" and then the "Personal" tab followed by "Voice Speed Dial." Choose the program for the voice tag and record the voice tag in the same manner as you did for the contact. To open the program with the voice tag, tap "Start," "Programs" and then "Voice Speed Dial."
Step 4
Launch a program or make a call. Make a call by tapping "Start" followed by "Programs" and then "Voice Speed Dial." You will hear a beep. Say the voice tag you recorded for the person you wish to call. You can open a program via the same procedure (by speaking the voice tag created for the program).
Step 5
Check the voice tags you created. Tap on "Start," "Settings," "Personal" tab and then "Voice Speed Dial." A voice tag tab appears and displays a list of your voice tags.

Add a New Contact
Step 1 Touch the "Main Menu" soft key on your LG phone, or use the directional keys on your phone to select the "Main Menu" option.
Step 2 Touch or select the "Contacts" option to access a menu that allows you to add a new contact. Select the "New Contact" option using the soft key or directional keys. This action opens a blank contact template.
Step 3 Touch or select one of the blank number fields, such as Mobile 1 or Work. Use the keypad to enter the appropriate number into the field. Add the contact name in the same manner. Touch or select "Save" to complete the addition of the new contact.
Add a New Number to an Existing Contact
Step 1 Touch the "Main Menu" soft key, or use the directional keys on your phone to select the "Main Menu" option.
Step 2 Touch or select the "Contacts" option. Scroll through your contact list and select an existing contact to whom you want to add a number. Touch or select the "Edit" option.
Step 3 Touch or select one of the blank number fields, such as Mobile 1 or Work. Use the keypad to enter the appropriate number into the field. Edit the contact name in the same manner if desired. Touch or select "Save" to save the new number under the existing contact.

While "Speed Dialing" or "Speed Dial" is listed in its fax specifications on some sites, it appears to be a mislabeled categorization of its group fax feature as HP's manual makes no other mention of it--save to say, the "fax to multiple numbers" (or multiple recipients) feature. There does not appear to be a speed dial list, but there is a phone book feature for adding contacts (individual numbers) & groups. (The following is detailed in a more explanatory way on pages 65-66 of the user's manual (http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-5740-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/6617253/model/6617254/manuals?cc=us&lang=en).

1. From the printer control display, touch Fax.
2. Touch Send Now.
3. Touch the telephone symbol to access its phone book feature.
4. Touch the person symbol for a phone book contact; or touch the multiple person symbol for a group of phone book contacts.
(Note: Contacts should be established before any of these could be added to any group.)
5. Touch + (plus sign) to add a contact/group; or touch the gear symbol (edit) to edit/delete a contact/group.
6. Touch Name.
7. Changes to contacts/groups:
•Adding a contact/group: type the name, & then touch Done.
••Adding a fax number to a contact: Touch Fax Number, enter this contact's fax number, & touch "Create".
••Adding a contact to a group: Touch Number of Members, select all of the contacts to add to this group from this printer's phone book, & touch Select followed by touching "Create".

•Editing: Select the contact/group name, & then touch Done. Then...
••Editing a Contact: touch Fax Number, enter the fax number, & touch Done.
••Editing a Group: touch Number of Members & deselect the contacts to remove from this group or touch + (plus sign) to add contacts to this group. Then touch Done.

•Deleting a contact/group: Select the name, & then touch Delete followed by touching Yes.

To Set speed dial numbers do the following:
1. In Menu mode, select Phonebook.
2. Select a contact to assign.
3. Select More -> Add to speed dial.
4. Select a number (if necessary).
5. Select a speed dial number you want to set.
The contact is saved to the speed dial number.

Note:
• You can call this contact by touching and
holding the assigned speed dial number in
the dialling screen.
• The first 3 speed dial numbers will be
assigned to the top 3 list on the widget toolbar.

How to Add Contacts to the LG Ally
1.Touch the "Contacts" icon on the screen of your LG Ally. The "Contacts" icon is at the bottom of the screen. The icon is a gray and white rectangle with a thin green bar across the top.
2.Press the "Menu" button on the bottom of the LG Ally and touch "New Contact" on the screen. The "Menu" button is the third button from the left in the row of buttons.
3.Slide the phone open to access the keyboard and enter the name of your contact.
4.Touch any of the information categories and enter the information using the keypad. Information categories include phone number and email address.
5.Tap the "+" icon to add more information categories, such as additional phone numbers or email addresses. Tap the button next to the new information category to access a menu of category names, and then enter the information using the keypad.
6.Press the "Picture Frame" icon on the screen, which is a white and gray rectangle with a "+" on it, and then touch one of the pictures in your album to assign that picture to the contact.
7.Touch "Done" on the LG Ally screen to save the contact to memory.

Assigning Direct Dialing Numbers
Speed dialing, as available in other feature phones, is
not available. However, you are able to directly save a
contact to your Home screen.
To set a contact as Direct dial:
1. Press (Home Key) >(Menu Key) > Add > Shortcuts > Direct dial.
2. Tap a contact from your Contact List. The contact
will be shown on the Home screen.
Direct Dial-
Simply tap the contact on the Home screen.

1. Go to phonebook.
2. From the drop down menu at top-right side of the screen, select 'Favourites'.
3. This should open up the list of keys from 2-9. Tap on any one of the digits and assign a contact to that number. 1 is reserved for voicemail so you cant assign it to any contact. Your speed dial is now set.
4. To speed-dial, go to the numeric keypad from the main menu, and keep the key pressed for a longer duration. ( for example, number 3)

Hi , From the description of ur problem it is very clear that ur touch pad is not synchronizing up with the touch . To fix it u will have to reset the factory settings and u need a a code to do the same . I will give u the code and see if it works .one of these will work for sure

3. Press Menu
4. Select New Favorite on Record menu
5. Enter a label for the favorite
- if entry is for an existing contact, select Lookup.
- if entry is for new contact, enter the label, press Down & enter the no.

Just had a look through the i600 manual and this is how you save a speed dial:

1. On the Home screen, press the Contacts soft key. You
can also press the Start soft key and select Contacts.
2. Select a contact from the list.
3. Scroll to a number, e-mail address, or web page
address.
4. Press the Menu soft key and select Add to Speed Dial.
5. If necessary, enter the name you want.
6. In the Keypad assignment field, select a location.
7. Press the Done soft key
