You have a firmware problem and it needs to be reset.
try this first:
If the computer is on, turn it off. Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.
Wait 5 seconds.
Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.
If that doesn't work, try this:
Turn the laptop off.
Remove the battery but leave the mains power attached.
Hold the start button down until you hear a loud beeeeep! then release.
Wait for the system to reboot and hopefully thats you sorted.
