When I turn the knob on the camera to be able to take another picture, the number still stays at zero. What's wrong with my camera?

I do not know the S6800 model specifically however, nikon cameras all generally work in the same way. Somewhere on your camera, probably a button or in the menus, there is an exposure compensation setting. The symbol Nikon uses for the button is a "+/-" enclosed in a circle (often half black on white/white on black printing). Press the button and you will either see a zero, a positive or negative number or a a scale with zero in the center with positive numbers to the right and negative numbers to the left.
If the exposure compensation is not at zero, set it to zero. Your exposures should now be correct. If it is already at zero, set it to a negative number to reduce exposure and darken the picture and to a positive number to increase exposure and lighten the picture. There's a diopter adjustment knob just to the right of the viewfinder. Turn it while looking through the viewfinder at a blank wall until the numbers in the viewfinder appear sharp. This knob allows the camera to adjust for individual eyesight.

There is something wrong with the lens. Perhaps its obstructed by something or the lens doesn't really open @ all. Try cleaning the lens with lint free cloth if not. Follow the in-warranty repair process @ www.kodak.com/go/stepbystep the website will ask you to troubleshoot first. Just keep following the website in the end if issue persist it will give you the page that you need to fill up so that you can send your camera and repair.
Note: After filling-up the information on the page and completing it wait for an e-mail from Kodak it will give you details how to send your camera for repair. It will also contain the address and phone number of the repair centre.

Turn the ajdustment knob, all the way in one direction. Then, counting the number of clicks as you do it, turn it all the way in the OTHER direction. Do this slowly. Turn it back, HALF that number, and it will be zeroed. Example - If the total number of clicks is 32, turn it back 16 clicks, to zero the crosshairs.

it could be pushed onto the wrong spline remove the knob turn the spindel back to zero with your hand and then replace it back on with the arrow to zero.joe

The blinking zero would indicate that the film has not loaded but the cartridge is in place. The camera won't do anything when this occurs. Try opening the film door and load the roll again

I have the 555 and there is a place if you look in the manual that you can set things to either stay permanently or change when you turn the camera off...I am sorry I cannot remember offhand what it is called. It is in the menu and I think it might be like User Settings....anyways....one of the options is the picture counter. You can either have it be continuous or have it go to zero each time you reformat the card. Personally, I like it to go back to zero with each reformat, but I know others do not. Anyways, maybe you inadvertantly fiddled with this setting???
