Hello

if it is not detected in BIOS, you will need to replace harddrive in your system it is pretty easy and then you can upgrade your harddrive too, also after your replace your harddrive you might have recovery discs came with your system just put these discs in your system and reimage your harddrive.

Thankyou

You will have to check whether you motherboard detects the harddrive first by logging on to the bios setup at the boot sector if it is showing the harddrive there then you might want to try downloading the latest bios update and installing it if all that does not work but the hard drive is showing on your bios setup them try re-installing the operating system here you must format the harddrive fully. If all these do not work then Im afraid you need to replace the harddrive.

My portable toshiba 500GB HD drive cant be detected by the computer. You hear the click sound my times like its trying to access it but nothing shows. Also the light is blinking.

That's the click of death - the actual hard disk inside the drive is damaged. The disk is dead, unfixable. Either just buy a complete new unit or dismantle it and replace the actual hard disk with a new one.

Can anybody help my Dell Laptop wont boot and the test said - SATA Disk S/N - SMART long life self test = Fail error code 0F00: 075D - The self test failed to read? Is this easy to fix as it is not mine...

The SMART feature on hard drives has detected that your drive is coming to the end of its life spand once thats said error smart failure means your hard drive is dead and you will need to buy a new one and softload it with an operating system, it kicks in to protect itself from causing damage to the rest of the computer, there is a slim chance you can put it in a external hard drive caddy and pull the data you need from it but thats only a very slim chance of that working. theres no easy fix or complicated fix your HDD has died. When i turn my compaq Evo N600c i get this message "1720 SMART hard drive detected imminent failure (failing attr : 05 ) " please help

If you want to save your data, start backing it up now!!!
That hard disk has detected bad sectors or other issues that is causing read, write or read/write failures.
The best thing to do if it's out of warranty is get a new hard disk and clone this drive to that one using a program like Acronis True Image.
Where you get the new hard disk will probably sell external enclosures or a USB adapter cable that you can use to have both hard disks hooked up at the same time to perform the drive cloning, or most computer shops if you are buying the drive from them will provide this service either free or for a modest fee.
Use the drive (meaning the laptop) as little as possible until you get a new drive into it.

Not reading

Disassemble the case, and remove the disk-drive.
Attach it as a "slave" disk-drive in some desktop computer, and see if the desktop computer can "detect" the disk-drive, and if the files on the disk-drive are still accessible.

Acer aspire one hard disk cannot read

Check the BIOS configuration for the hard disk, if the BIOS does not detect the hard drive then the hard drive is faulty or the disk controller is faulty.
To test the hard drive, remove it and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. This computer should detect the hard drive as an external disk drive. If this computer cannot detect it and/or cannot open the folders etc. the the hard drive is faulty.
Then you need to install a new hard drive in the Acer and install Windows, the device drivers and your programs to get the laptop operational again.

When my hard drive is in the xbox it will go to a sceen reading contact custermer suport and there will be 1 red lite in the 4 secton and will also read E 69

E69: Hard Drive Error - It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it. If that fixes the problem, then you need to buy a new hard drive. http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/Xbo...

What does ' a disk read error occurred press ctr alt del to restart, everytime i do it it gives me the same error??

You could have a hard drive problem. To check the hard drive boot up to the Windows XP cd in repair mode. At the C prompt type: chkdsk /r
This will start a program called Check Disk that will evaluate your hard drive and attempt to fix any errors. it Check Disk is successful it will complete 100% and return to a C prompt. You can then attempt to reboot. If Check Disk finds unrecoverable errors you will need to purchase a new hard drive and rebuild the OS.

Hard Drive detects immenent failure.

If this is a brand new hard drive from a store return it for a new one. Hard drives have a built in feature called SMART. For some reason the SMART function is reading that there is something very wrong with the drive. If you have more than one hard drive installed on the system make sure SMART is detecting it on the new drive and not the older ones by unplugging the other drives from the motherboard.
