A VHS tape is in the recorder but will not eject. The flap opens when eject key is pressed, the cassette comes up, does not come forward, and then goes back down. The recorder then switches itself off.

Hi, the problem is the tape has got chewed up inside the video the only way your going to get it out is by taking the case of but dont do this whilst its plugged in.

you need to take the tape off and you may have to cut the tape so you can put the case back on and switch it on so the tape will eject, you need to get what ever is keeping it stuck free, the chances are the tape has got chewed up around the drive and this will need cutting free to allow the tape to come out.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks.

you could try fast forwarding a bit or rewinding a bit then try ejecting but failing that your going to need to take the case off to free the tape

When inserting vhs tape, the player pulls the tape from inserted vhs

That is exactly what a typical M-Load mechanism is supposed to do. Once the VHS tape cassette is inserted, cassette housing cover will be flipped up and two arms will pull tape out of cassette housing to wrap tape around cylindrical spinning head housing that contains video heads and, if VHS HI-FI, audio heads as well. When stop or eject button is pressed, arms will retract and tape will wind back into cassette housing. What type of problem are you experiencing with unit? It may have nothing to do with M-load engaging tape around head cylinder.

Vcr ejects after 10 seconds

The tape is wound tight or is not wound evenly creating friction. There is a safety feature designed into the vcr that senses that there is too much tension. Fast forward all the way then rewind all the way. This is the way it was in the 70's 80's for cassette tapes and vhs tapes. If the tape still ejects then check the belts.

I got an LG VCR GC980NW (MG 64) VHS VCR. I've wrongly pressed both the eject and play forward button at the same time. After that, the VCR shows both the 'EJECT' message and 'No Tape' signal, and then...

It is possible that the mechanism is out of mode as the front cassette loading mechanism and the tape forward loading mechanism have gone out of sync. Now it is important that the MODE of the system control is in the correct parking.
Hence I feel that the VCR must be opened and the mechanism reset-ted. Make sure that the tape loading has come back to the correct parking and also the cassette loading has returned, other wise remove the mechanism and reset.

A cassette has jammed inside my vcr machine. It will not move forward or backward Can yoy please help

Hello,

Since the tape won't come out then it means you will have to manually remove the stuck tape. This involves you disassembling the unit in order to help/assist the player get the stuck tape out.

Turn of the unit and remove from the wall, get a Philip screw driver, use it to remove all the screws from the unit and take it apart.

Open the cover and you will see the stuck tape and what's hooking or preventing it from coming out/ejecting.

Now plug the unit, and turn it on. Press the eject button, as the tape tries to come out, support it with your hand so that it can come out.

Or if it happen that the cassette tape has coiled inside the unit, carefully free the coiled tape and the press the eject button.

Lastly, the moment you disassemble the player, you would see what's preventing it from coming out, then you can free whatsoever that is making it stuck press the eject button and the tape should come out.

Make sure the unit is turned off each time you want to remove what's making the cassette stuck.

I hope understand the above explanations.

Good luck.

Vhs tape ejects when pressing record

1. Rejected tapes on a VHS recorder is due to a dry belt that is the transfer belt on ejection tray is worn and needs replacement.
2. Because VHS recorder are now not so prevalent and there are so few repair shops specializing in there repair due to parts acquirement it may be best to get a new recorder.
3. Addressing the belts. The belts usually grips a pulley which in turn turns a gear that moves the ejection tray forwards/backwards when given a certain signal on from the control board. This could also be a worn gear from constant use of the load/ reloading of VHS tapes.
I hope this helps.

Cassette

Most VCR's will auto-rewind the tape when it gets to the end of a tape. Most will leave the tape in the unit assuming you may wish to view it again once rewound. Does the tape eject properly when you press the eject button? What does the manula say about the eject function?
