Canon DR 3060 Path-Through Scanner Logo
Anonymous Posted on Aug 31, 2010

My scanner is now adding a page with a black line that runs from top to bottom of the page and the actual document scanned is page 2. But the document is fine with no line through it. Does this mean that the scanner has to be cleaned? But wouldn't that line also appear on the document page as well? Thanks for your help, Moira

Check your scanner software settings. It is probably set at duplex ever time you start to scan. That is why you get two pages for every pass, the front and the back. You must place the document in the feeder in a way that the front side of the document is page 2. You may want to flip it next time you scan. So the main question is why there is black line from top to bottom? That is because there is a piece of dirt stuck on the glass of the scanner. You see, this scanner actually does two scanning when a page runs through it: the front and the back in duplex mode. So there are two scanners in side the box. The front page scanner apparently is dirty and needs to be cleaned with clean cloth and lens cleaner.

When I send a fax there is a thin black line from the top of the page to the bottom. Is there a way to make this line disappear?

Hi
if you scan documents through ADF (auto document feeder), open the scanner lid and check / clean the thin strip of glass on left of the main scanner panel. Use windex or similar window cleaner.
good luck

Black line on scans with neat receipts mobile scanner

Multiple lines appeared in every scan right after scanning a document from a credit card company that had those nasty adhesive strips used to attach credit cards.
First, I scanned multiple full pages to see if the problem would clear itself. After about 6 pages, I was able to identify the specific areas where the lines occurred on a document.
Next, I sprayed a tiny bit of glass cleaner (I used Sparkle glass cleaner, but I suspect any brand would work) onto an 8.5x11 sheet of plain paper in the area where the black lines appeared. NOTE: DO NOT SOAK THE PAPER, just get it damp.
Finally, I ran the dampened paper through the scanner. After each run, I would compare the result to the prior scan. As each streak was removed, I used a different piece of paper wetting only to address the remaining streaks.
After only a few runs, the streaks were gone (in my case).

Hope this helps!

HP Scanjet N6010 Once documents are scanned a line appears on the scanned copy

The lines on a scanned document are typicaly caused by dirt on the scanning glass. To clean it use the following steps.

1. Unplug unit.
2. Open the fron access door from the top.
3. Clean both top and bottom **** glass that run the width of the scanner.

The glass can be cleaned with a lint free cloth and a mild glass cleaner.

Hi, I have a black line that runs from top to bottom of the page when scanning, faxing and copying. How do I fix this issue?

the blcak line that runs from top to bottom is due to a dirty misaligned print head...do a full printer maintenance on your printer/scanner . Once the heads and rollers get clean and the printer is aligned, it should get rid of any black streaks or lines. I own a Brother Printer/scanner and it did the same thing to me, as soon as I ran maintenance on it..it fixed the black straks and lines I had on my prints.

Black line in the middle of the output - scaned document

Hello,

A black line down a scanned page indicates a dirty scan glass. Lift the top of you scanner like you would putting a page or book down to scan. On the end of the scanner that has the document feeder you should see a thin piece of glass the is separate from the larger glass pane. This is the document feeder glass. Now check it over for a very small mark of ink or dirt. You can use regular glass cleaner to wipe this glass just spray it on a piece of cloth not the scanner then wipe. You may have to wipe and then try scanning several times if the ink or marker is died on. while you are cleaning you should also clean the main glass pane, it will make the scans clearer and crisper.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Black line through the middle of the document

The thick line is either because of dust sticking to the glass or a module problem. Try different brightness settings and scan white paper. If the thickness varies and also the sides of the black strip are jaggered (step like) then it is dust on Glass. use isopropyl alcohol to clean, dont use solvents. If the teickness is same for all levels of brightness and has a sharp edge always, it could be scan module problem.
