BUT IT WORKED FINE LAST NIGHT. TODAY HUM SOUND; NO HEAT - ONLY EVERYTHING ELSE WORKD FINE. AFTER SOME INFO FOUND OUT IT COULD BE THE MAGNITRON OR POWER DIODE OR HV CAPACITOR AND OR FLAME OVEN SENSOR THERMOMITER. MY QUESTION IS - IS IT WORTH FIXING OR SHOULD I BUY ANOTHER? A loud sort of "groaning" noise and no heat is the sign of a bad magnetron tube. The magnetron is the microwave source, and when they go bad it's usually time to replace the oven. Most microwave repairs, especially a magnetron replacement, should be
left to professionals. There are lethal voltages under the cover, and
the chance of microwave leakage if the repair isn't done properly. With the price of a replacement tube and labor for the repair, it's often doesn't cost much more (and sometimes even less!) to buy a new oven.
Sorry I can't give you a more positive answer, but thanks for using Fixya!
buzzinsg / humming / loud or louder than normal .is probably the mag / it has failed and the trans is making that noise . if older than 5 yrs I would replace ans the mag is 100.00 + and w / labor you have paid for a new on but have the old one .**** ..
hi, You may need a new magnetron, contact sharp or the store you got it from; most microwaves have a 3-5 year warranty on the magnetron. If it's not in warranty, find a good appliance repairman, this is a difficult and dangerous repair job.
Yes that noise is causing your fuse to blow. Machine gun sound sounds like the High Voltage Capacitor or High voltage diode is bad. (Loud humming sound is usually a bad magnetron or bad power transformer). Most of these parts are inexpensive, except for the magnetron. But most of the repair bill is most likely going to be for labor.
Based on your model, it looks like an over the range microwave. And to fix any of these problems require the removal of the microwave from the wall. So its up to you if you want to deal with that hassle. But you also have to consider that you'll probably have a hard time trying to find a new microwave that will fit.
This is tough to call remotely, but it will almost certainly be the magnetron or high voltage capacitor or (if you're lucky) the high voltage rectifier diode.
