DI 524 Frequent Wireless Network Loss

I have my DI 524 configured for my home network. Now the challenge is that the wireless network is lost in about 2 hours frequently. Whenever this happens, I have to reboot my DSL modem as well as router.

My connection is WEP enabled and laptop and router are very close to each other without any obstructung walls. Also there are no cordless phones in the house.

After I reboot the router, the connection works fine for another couple of hours and then again the same. Customer support suggested me to upgrade the firmware, but still no success after upgrade. Im I missing out anything in the settings?

Any help is much appreciated.

Regards,
DRP

I have the same exact problem, so I think this not to be so strange.
In fact I used this router very deeply for 2 years, with no problems, and now suddenly this problem appeared. Maybe It's a problem of wear and tear?
Changing the channel of trasmission didn't change anything...

Try changing the channel of your router ex (channel 1-6-11). Since you upgrade the firmware of your router you need to reset it to factory default and reconfigure everything so the new firmware will take effect.

How can I connect the ps3 to a wireless router di-524?

First, you need to configure the wireless adapter inside the D-Link router:
* set an SSID -- the "name" of your network
* set an encryption-level -- use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* set a password for your network.

Then, enter the SSID and the password on the PS3, to connect to your wireless network.

I have a D-Link AirPlus DI-524 i want to use it wired only for to comps running win 7 i had a friend set up a wireless network before but had falling out so i need help to set it up as wired

For a wired network, the easiest way is using the Wizard mode (There's a botton named Wizard at Home tab), basically you'll have to configure connection with cable modem (WAN part) and check DHCP settings (LAN part), this one should be enabled for having automatic IPs.

Cant connect my laptop wirelessly...

Try to reconfigure your wireless network on your DI-524.

To access the configuration page of your router by Default type in on the address bar 192.168.0.1. On the login page by default the Username is admin and leave the Password blank.

If inside the the configuration page of the router

>Click Home
> Click on WIRELESS located on the left side and you will have the wireless setting of your network
> Change the wireless network name
> Under security choose either WEP or WPA -PSK for this type of router.
> Type in your new network key (also know as Passphrase of Key1).

For WEP use 0 to 9 Number or A to F character and it should be exactly 10 characters.
For WPA-PSK you can use alpha numeric from 0 to 9 and from A to Z. The minimun character would be 8.

> Click on apply
> Click on continue.
Try accessing your wireless network first using your wireless computer. If you are connected to your wireless network try connecting to the Internet.

DI-524 wireless router as wireless switch

You need to disable the DHCP server on your "slave" wireless router ( the di-524 ). In D-link routers this might be called configuring it to be an "Access point".

When this happens, connecting to the second wireless router should cause your computer to obtain an IP address which is in the range of the first router (that is to say, it will use the first router's dhcp server).

You should be able have your laptop connect with an automatic IP address and have it work.
