I have put in a new printer cartridge but sometimes the page has places that don't print clearly or they are too light - one page may print fine and the next will have a few words that aren't readable. thank you!

636 is a lot of pages and depends on the toner coverage you may need to replace the toner.. 80 - 75% (is that used is remaining ??) any way check your waste toner basket first (see you manual for instructions) chances are its filled and needs cleaning or replacing (see your manual for instructions) If its fine then change your toner .. If you have the demo toner (toner shipped with machine) these contain less toner than a new cartridge and will finish faster ...
Please find below the section in the user manual for the printer that tells you what the lights mean. Hope this helps.
Sometimes the lights on the printer signal a problem:
Both lights are off
• The printer is turned off. Press the power button. If you still don’t see the glowing green light, make sure the printer is plugged into a power outlet and that the outlet has power.
Both lights blink • Paper may be jammed in the printer. Open the front cover and remove any jammed paper. Close the front cover and turn the printer off, then on again. Go to “Clearing a Paper Jam” on page 67.
• The cartridge cradle may be jammed. Close the front cover, turn the printer off, then on again. The power light blinks, and the resume light is off • This is normal behavior when the printer is receiving data, printing, or waiting for ink to dry.
The power light glows steadily, and the resume light blinks One or both of the inkjet printer cartridges may not be seated properly, or you may have forgotten to remove the tape from a new inkjet printer cartridge. Open the front cover. Remove both inkjet printer cartridges. Holding the black plastic sides of the inkjet printer cartridge, check to be sure the tape has been removed from the print head. Then replace the inkjet printer cartridges in the cartridge cradle. Make sure each inkjet printer cartridge is pressed all the way into the cartridge cradle. If an inkjet printer cartridge feels at all loose, it is not properly seated. For instructions, go to “Insert Print Cartridges” on page 5.
• The front cover may be open. Make sure it is closed. • There may be no paper in the lower paper tray. Load paper. • The printer may need to reset. Press and release the Resume button. • Your computer may be low on memory. Try restarting it. • Turn the printer off, then on again. (This resets the printer.) • Repeat the printing process. Sometimes problems disappear when you try to print your document again. • Printing problems can often be caused by errors in your applications.
If you can print from the SimpleText or TeachText application but not from another application, it’s probably a problem with that application. Contact the publisher of that application for help.
It sounds like you need to run a printhead cleaning. The print head is what you put the ink cartridges into, it's responsible for placing ink directly to the page. If the some of the nozzles are clogged up, it can give you bad print quality. Without knowing the exact model of your printer, I can't tell you exactly where to find the menus needed to run the cleaning. Sometimes you can do this via the "maintenance" tab in the printers properties. If you need any further assistance, feel free to let me know.
Hi! Your problem is your printers INK CARTRIDGE alignment, make sure that your printer ink cartridge is properly aligned. Or try to clean your ink catridge. GOOD LUCK. THANKS
1. Please Load a plain paper.
2. Press and hold the "Scan" button for three seconds.
3. An alignment page prints.
4. Place the alignment page onto the scanner glass.
5. Press the "Scan" button.
6. Once scanning is complete, the cartridge has been aligned for optimal print quality. Alignment must be complete before continuing with any print jobs.
If deep cleansing via software doesn't work then you've got to manually clean your print head unit. Sometimes you'll have to bite the bullet and get a replacement print-head unit ($$). If you're at the stage that you're considering replacement, then you've got nothing to lose by cleaning the print-head unit yourself. It's simple. Remove all ink cartridges first then remove the print head itself. Place the print head unit in a saucepan of warm (NOT boiling hot) water and leave to soak for an hour. (Protect your clothes - it gets messy) After an hour, flush the printhead unit under a running tap. Don't run the water too fast or you may damage the unit) You should flush until the water runs clear. Do not attempt to clear the nozzles with anything other than water - they are very fine needle jets and you will damage them!! If needs be, return to saucepan and leave to soak in warm water again and repeat process. When you are satisfied that the printhead is clean, you need to dry the unit thoroughly. Shake as much water from it as you can then pat it gently dry. Next place it on some absorbant kitchen paper and put the unit in a warm place to thoroughly dry (Overnight in a warm airing cupboard would be good). Once dry, refit the unit put in (Preferably new - but I've used existing one's without problem) cartridges and run a cleaning cycle. Your printer should now work as if new!!! - In Most cases!! - sometimes though, you'll either have to replace the print head unit - which sometimes can be more expensive that simply replacing the printer. What have you got to lose though eh? CLIVUSS
you may need to prime the new cartridge by "charging it" if you go to printers/faxes menu then select "printing preferences" and clcik on the maintenance tab you should have the option to do this also to reset to default settings.
