Archos is not claiming compatibility with vista, even with their latest firmware upgrade - sorry
If you are Using the Option " In Windows Media Device mode" then you will certainly not be able to connect your Archos to the computer to sync files in.because the computers recognizes as a MPT device. windows xp or windows vista both do not recognize MPT devices unless the device drivers are available in windows, which is usually not. If you use the "In PC Hard Drive mode", you will be able to connect your archos to the computer and be able to sync with windows media player. So i'm suggesting you should use the PC Hard Drive mode when you are connecting to the computer to sync files.

*You do not need to install any software to be able to use Archos. Windows xp recognizes as a hard drive if you choose hard drive mode.
It works fine for me if I use it in hard drive mode.
