I have a Whirlpool GS5HAXNL00. The light in our refrigerator went out. At the same time we lost the Refrigerator Control/Freezer Control indicators. I remove the light bulb (it tested good in another outlet) and my RC/FC indicators come back on. Both freeser and Ref seem to be working fine as I placed a thermometer in them and everything is staying cool and the fan/compressor are running . This question was posed by Imdecario on 8/6/10 but I have a different model and don't have the clicking. I am adding the bulb removal portion. Suggestions as to what's wrong and how to fix it? Thank you for any assistance you may provide.

SOURCE: I have a Whirlpool GS5SHAXNL00.

Hi,

The control board of your Refrigerator is the problem.Actually it is the one which controls the indicator lights.Since you say you heard a pop sound. The control board transistors has been burst or some times damaged wiring connections to the cause a short circuit. Please check for any burnt out wires through bulb to the control board.

The control board looks like this.If it is wiring problem solder it correctly and check for the replacement of damaged wires.
If board is the problem go for replacement. If you don't have hands on in it.take it to the nearest service center.

There is a constant buzzing noise coming from the lower freezer ice maker. It is producing very few ice cubes. The control bar is down and in proper position to make ice.

Fridge keeps beeping or buzzing: The following is for Frigidaire models but others can be addressed similarly.

Several Frigidaire refrigerator models have an electronic control panel on the freezer door the owner can use to adjust the internal temperature, dispense ice and water and receive notification about issues such as the need to replace a water filter. The refrigerators also emit a beep for various actions and as an occasional alarm. Determining what causes the beeps necessitates some troubleshooting.
Temperature Controls ·A Frigidaire refrigerator's display panel blinks when the control panel is touched to set temperature controls. After pressing "Freezer Temp" or "Refrigerator Temp" on the keypad, press the arrow buttons within five seconds to increase or decrease the desired temperature. If you do not press the arrow buttons within five seconds after pressing "Freezer Temp" or "Refrigerator Temp" on the keypad, the refrigerator beeps to indicate the current setting will stay in place.

Door Open ·When you leave the refrigerator or freezer door open, the refrigerator beeps. Also, the "Door Ajar" indicator illuminates on the appliance's display panel. Shutting the door and pressing "Alarm Reset" stops the beeping and turns off the "Door Ajar" indicator light.
·The Frigidaire refrigerator has a control lock feature that prevents use of its control panel or dispensers when the unit is locked. When the control lock is active, a beep sounds when a keypad or dispenser is pressed. Release the control lock by pressing the "Control Lock" icon for three seconds. A beep will sound, and the icon's light will go out.
Power Reset ·A power reset is occasionally necessary if the Frigidaire refrigerator's control panel does not work normally or a reset function on the keypad does not work. A power reset involves disconnecting power to the refrigerator by unplugging its power cord from the electrical outlet, waiting 30 seconds and plugging the power cord back into the electrical outlet. When the control panel resets, a beep sounds. If the refrigerator beeps even after a power reset and the beeps' source is not known, contact Frigidaire.

How to change water filter?

Hi

Find the indication light, located at the top of the Whirlpool refrigerator just inside the door. This tells you when to change your water filter. A green light indicates the filter is good and a red light indicates you need to change the filter.

Find the filter knob. It is usually located at the base of the refrigerator in the kick plate or grill.

Turn the knob a quarter turn to the left to unlock the filter. Pull out and remove the old filter.

Add a new filter and push in. Turn the filter a quarter turn to the right to secure it in place.

Reset your filter indication light inside the refrigerator. Press down and release the switch five times within 10 seconds. The filter indication light should then turn green.
Please get back to us if you have further query or else please accept the solution.

Whirlpool Model ED5SHAXML12 is freezing food in refrigerator even when dial is at off. Happened from one day to the next.

At the refrig controls , the freezer control , controls how much air goes into the refrigerator section . Open the refrig door , and up at the top left , put your hand over the damper (air vent) . Turn the freezer control from high to low , and feel the difference in the air flow . If you turn your freezer control to a lower setting , less cold air will enter the refrig . Think of it as : the freezer control adjusts the temperature , and the refrig control , tells how long to run the compressor . In actuality , this is how it works . However , with the dial (refrigerator thermostat) in the off position and refrig still running , this indicates a bad thermostat . Pt # 2198202 .

Whirlpool gold refridgerator light not working and is making funny noise

Had the identical symptoms with my Whirlpool Gold GS6SHEXNB00 side-by-side refrigerator. Had a technician come on site, indicated it was the "circuit board/ timer" (Whirlpool part # 1394052). Board is accessible from behind fridge (lower left side in a white plastic housing to left of compressor).

Swapped the board out (noticed a scorched circuit on the old circuit board). Lightbulbs now work, temperature readouts also good to go.
