My EEE PC1015 PE keeps giving error message "Reboot & Select proper boot device of Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device & Press a Key." Also, beeps continuously for approx. 1-2 min then stops beeping but error message remains. Tried F9 several times to no avail. Entered setup, tried set up defaults, still same message. No manual or recovery disk available. Any ideas? A friend borrowed for night & returned to me like this & can't give me any clue about what caused this. PLEASE HELP!

My computer gives message "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". I don't have a reboot disk.

Try booting to the Menu and Command prompt and Run the Command Prompt, once command prompt is open, type the following command and then press Enter sfc /scannow
nota: there's space between sfc and /scannow
the problem is that it's lost or damaged the boot device, sometime is recover and fixing.

Boot Problem in my ASUS Eee PC 900 netbook

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

This problem can be caused by 3 things.
1: Fault Hard Drive.
2: Faulty cables or connection.
3: Faulty motherboard.

As it is a netbook I would recommend taking it to your nearest PC repair shop and asking them to test your HDD and motherboard.

Go to more than one place so that you do not get ripped off.

On my asus eee pc 2g surf it says "missing operating system reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" please help!

It sounds like you have a bad hard drive. Make sure you don't have any CD/DVDs in the drive if that model has one and you don't have any USB devices plugged in at boot.

Computer beeping and saying reboot and select proper boot device

When you reboot, go to BIOS, restore factory BIOS settings. If that doesn't help, you'll need to reinstall your OS.

I've read this problem due to new hardware interferences with desktop computers, all they had to do is change a few pins around on the harddrives.. since this is a laptop, and is quite difficult and dodgy to access the hardware, the only other suggestion is to reinstall windows with a recovery disk, or windows CD-ROM.

Hope this helps :)

Sounds like your hard drive maybe had it. Try to do a repair with your windows disc.
