There are more than a few ways to wire this device. The switch box where the device is installed _must_ have a neutral wire for the receptacle to work. This is usually a white wire.

The switch box should have at least 2 cables in it. One cable is the incoming HOT(black) and neutral(white) from the circuit breaker panel (or source). The second cable is the outgoing switch leg(black) and neutral(white) to the light. Each cable should have a bare equipment grounding wire.

The most common way to install this device is to connect the hot wire to one of the black screws, pick one. ( I'm assuming that you have _not_ removed the brass tab between the 2 black screws.)

The 2 neutral (white) wires are twisted together under a wirenut along with a pigtail which connects to the silver screw on the device.

The black wire that goes to the light (switch leg) is then connected to the brass or gold screw.

The bare ground wires are twisted together under a wirenut along with a pigtail which is connected to the green screw.

what if there are only 3 wires...looks like I have a red wire a black wire and a copper wire. I hooked the copper wire to the green terminal and the black to the brass and the red to silver...only the red light came on--not receiving any power to the outlet

Wiring 4 Way Switch Diagram 4 Way Switch Wiring Diagram

For many people wiring a 4 way switch is quite confusing. Actually with a little help it really is not that hard.

The first thing that you want to remember is that you need to label every wire carefully as you install them. I often will make myself a drawing and number each connection. Then as I install each wire I can number that connection on the wire and keep track of everything that way. It will also help you if you need to troubleshoot your project at a later time.

Notice also that both blacks and both red wires are on the same side of the switch. Do not get them crossed.

Also if you are controlling more than one light, you can not just feed through one light to the next. You need to run a black and a white from each light to the next one. You can keep doing that with many lights as long as you do not overload the circuit.

139fmb e22 engine wire diagram

Everything runs off a main plug from your battery that runs into your head cluster then back down individual plugins for your rectifier your head light and horn then you're starting switch along with your stop switch All those have plugs that run into a Box labeled SX12 volts And a rectifier From there it goes to your headlights. But if you just want to get it running Make sure Your coil connected to your spark plug If there's a key that that's your switch turn the key and turn it over. There's no key than don't worry about turning the key.

Rewire a light box with four wires

I can help... but cannot see your drawing.

Let's get started:
1) By code, the microwave? should be on dedicated circuit
2) You have 4 cables that enter the box.
3) Only 1 cable will be Hot and Neutral from breaker box. You must identify this cable first.
Here is drawing:

Just got truck painted, need wiring diagram to get

Haynes repair manuals would have good wiring diagrams. Or google it, you can find about everything on the internet, but sometimes a problem with too small of print, or maybe my computer skills need sharpening.
I don't know about those wire connections not plugged in. Are you sure they are from the doors? Can't imagine what they would be.

Looking for a wiring diagram for 1986 yamaha moto 4. No power at the light or at the switch and the lights arent burnt out

Have you trace all wiring condition from end-to-end and everything has been properly grounded?
Get a similar diameter electrical wire, connect one end to bulb and the other to your battery, if it works then try to connect it from battery to switches and from switches to bulb, if substituting old wires works then leave it connected as it is, as one of your wires had its time. No need for wiring diag. If you want try to use Google search engine to search around. Good enough?

Changing standard wiper switch with delay wiper swt. on1979 F150

Look at the fuse. The problem could be anywhere within the circuit. You may want to see if a wiring diagram is available on-line. If not, there's always the Chilton manual....
