I f I let my PC sit for a few hours I can get to the BIOS Setup screen/or windows. After about a minute if I am in windows the monitor loses the signal. If I am in the BIOS Setup the scree n freezes and nothing changes. After that if I resetart he pc (turning power supply off unplugging and waiting 1 minutes). I monitor gets signal for a shorter period of time then the same thing happens. Eventually the Monitor never gets signal. Once again if I wait for some time, usually an hour, the monitor will get a signal for a short and lost it. The first thing I did was get a new graphics card. It didn't fix the issue. I have disconnected/removed everything but the power supply and graphics card and the same issue. I have removed the memory and installed only one module and got the same issue. The same happened when I swapped the modules, so I don't think it is a bad RAM issue.
Ive had this trouble many times free in bios lost of or lockup
Found it to be bad ram replace all aok
This is probably an over heating CPU(processor). Make sure the fan over the processor is working. If it is, check to see if the heat sink is fastened properly to the motherboard - if you can push on any of the corners and it moves in than there's an issue.
Also look for a thick layer of dust that might be blocking the air flow.
This still sounds like a heat issue. Try checking for leaking capacitors -http://www.flickr.com/photos/houlihan/14...
this image shows a good capacitor and a bad one. Bad ones can simply be bulging and when they heat too much they fail.
If this is the case, you'll be looking at a new motherboard, or someone very talented could replace the capacitors, but it is not recommended.

Thanks for the reply. I took a look and there was some dust between the sink and the fan. Got that cleaned up, but I still got the same problem. I took the sink off afterwards and the CPU was not the slighted bit hot. I'm not sure what to try next. I have cleared the CMOS memory as per the instructions specified by the motherboard manual. I even tried removing the backup battery for a few minutes and replacing. All the fans are working when I power on the PC and they conitnue to work after the monitor loses the signal. I have also hooked by laptop up to the monitor to ensure that the monitor is not the issue.
Finally to clarify. When I say the monitor loses the signal the monitor goes blank and the power light flashes. It doesn't display a no signal message as it does when I disconnect it from the PC.
