I have a homelite piston running in my Husqvarna edger . Most pistons for engines are all the same if the cc's are the same . they only vary in the gudgeon pin size and the location of the pin in the piston. So take your piston to a small engine wreckers and any piston that measurers the same ,looks the same will do the job. then get a new piston for the make that it came out off and it will fit.

Husqvarna 450 e-series 18" Chain Saw will not

Is this machine mechanically sound, remove the muffler and take a look at the piston through the open exhaust port, any signs of scuffinf or damage to the piston skirt and the saw will have to come apart for further investigation.

I have a husqvarna 61 it wound pull over with the plug in but with it out it pulls over just fine

Assuming you have fitted the correct spark plug ( BPMR6A ) then it has to be an issue with the piston, if this is a after market piston it could have poor tolerences, the piston crown should be completly flat, not domed, if the piston is slightly too tall it will increse the compression to the point where you can not crank the engine, take the piston out and carfully compare it with the old piston.

Piston seizure in Husky 359 chain saw-how to remove old top end, evaluate damage and install new piston and ring or all new top end.

Probably going to be a paired piston&cylinder http://www.ebay.com/itm/HUSQVARNA-359-357-CYLINDER-AND-PISTON-KIT-47MM-/140580138020
you will need to replace both.. remove your muffler and see scorched(black streaks) piston, fused rings. Remove air filter and carb to see scored cylinder wall(on hot side)

Fuel Mixture Husqvarna 455 Rancher Chain Saw

Page 17 of your Operator's Manual says 50:1.

Fuel/Oil Mixture
  1. Use a quality 2 cycle oil and mix it to the OIL supplier's recommended ratio. Today I use Stihl 2 cycle oil mixed @ 50:1 in a Pioneer that I purchased new in 1980. There are no gouges or scratches on the piston or cylinder and I have no carbon build up on the piston top. The manual (on stone tablets) recommends 24:1. Over the years the mixture has leaned from 24:1 (Saw Recommendation) to 28:1 (Lawn boy mower recommendation) to 32:1 (Oil provider 8oz/2gal - used for many years) and finally the last 5 (±) years 50:1 (Stihl 2.6oz/1gal)
  2. Most gas in the US of A contains ethanol; not good with chainsaws. Mix what you expect to use within a few months. Anything over 6 months old use up in a 4 cycle engine. HTH
