your problem is related to the standby voltages. thats why the led doesnt light or flash. have you checked the fuse?

It sounds like a solder or loose wire connection. try looking at all the wire connections and make sure they are all connected tightly and if that doesnt solve the problem you should then look for bad solder on the circuit boards. bad solder appears to be dull grey and not shiny. Let me know how you make out after checking the items above.

How do you discharge a rear projetion tv before doing a service on it to avoid getting shocked. I'm getting ready to put a new signal board in my philips 60".

The SSB (signal) board will be fine after allowing the set to be unplugged. Dangerous voltages will be stored on the main input board and LSB ( deflection) but the signal board will be fine.

Tv turns off by it self

Ours 60" (60P8342) turns off after a short period of time also. My husband researched it online. The cheap solution he was told to try is to unplug the TV (or plug into power strip and switch off) when you are done watching it. A computer board inside over heats and it's a protection mechanism for it to turn off. Otherwise, it's over $100 to fix the computer board.

Reaccuring problem

The main fuse, it should 5A/250V. The one you bought is 0.5A/250V and it will burn because it can not handle the amount of current that passes through it.
The other fuse that sparks even when the TV is unplug because is the charge of a capacitor that circulates when you place the fuse.
Just curious why you had to change the fuses?

Television Turns on and then Turns Right back off!!!

Either a short in the High Voltage section or power supply section. If you are not a TV technician you will have to find a reputable repair shop to help. Good luck.
