Our maytag mah 3 door will not unlock! It's holding our clothes hostage!! There doesn't seem to be a manual release anywhere like in the other models! Can you please tell me how to get the door open???
same deal. started w/suds code and now it won't drain and i can't get it to do anything. load of clothes trapped inside and it won't unlock. just flipped the breaker and will leave off for an hour. As an ASIDE - NEVER BUY A GE extended warranty - when i called the phone number the automated attendent said that there was nothing available in my area and they'd call back in 24 hours. Went to the ge website - first available appointment is MAY 16! Today is the 5th! Called the provider listed for the appointment and got it backed down to May 9th - but still - if I can't figure out how to get the clothes out they will be ruined.
Remove 4 screws around edge of dispenser.remove dispenser cover front edge of dispenser is a nylon cord similar to weed eater string pull hard to left door should unlock .probably will need new lock but chance there may be just something stuck in pump might try getting to it by removing back panel from front remove screws each side of door frame panel will come off if you want to try from the front good luck
Just unplug the maachine and it will unlock in a min or two
The Maytag mentioned on June 29 is a 2 year old compact HE 24" washer. After talking with our appliance guy he had me do the following as there apparently is not an emergency cord to pull to have it open.
Remove the very bottom metal flap carefully by inserting a flathead screwdriver in the square holes at the bottom and torquing gentle. Remove the 3 top screws above the silver metal flap that is now exposed; that hold the upper front cover on. This allows you hand room only to VERY carefully spread out the front cover that houses the door on it and reach up to the electrical bundle that is controlling the door handle. I disconnected this bundle and after a minute I was able to open the door and water drenched the floor. Oh well. At least the putrid clothes got yanked and washed elsewhere until we can get the drain pump cleared out.
At least that is how I had to do it.

Same problem however I find only 2 screws on each side of the dispenser; when removed it appears the entire front panel wants to come with it --- but doesn't. And as for unscrewing the front panel; where are the screws? Oh help, I'm on two days of summer heat and a load of clothes simmering away. The smell should be lovely by now. Thank you for anything!
