Question about Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D / Dynax 7D Digital Camera
This is a known design defect with the 7D - it's called the "First Black Frame". Sony will repair it free of charge.
Sony will claim not to know what you're talking about, but here's the service advisory to refer to when you tell them it's supposed to be free.
They repaired mine for free after some persuasion.

I had same problem, was about to consider sending for repair, then decided to try something: mounting the lens FORCEFULLY into position a couple of times. Working perfectly since. Apparently, some of the contact points needed some, er, tough love.
Now, when I say "FORCEFULLY", I mean "with authority", not with "reckless abandon" - don't go and snap everything into pieces!

I had the same problem. Took picture; camera turned itself off after one shot; review of picture showed no image (black). Thought it was battery or card but battery fully charged. Took card out; turned camera on; activated shutter; camera turned itself off. Reinserted (same) card; turned camera on; took picture; problem solved. No idea why. Gary
