I have a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator, Model No. 795.77573600. The ice and water dispenser give the error message Er 1F. In searching online it appears that this problem is related to the ice compartment cooling fan. I unplug the refrigerator for a few moments and then replug it and the panel lights up again and I can get water dispensed. However, after a while, the panel goes back to displaying the error message Er 1F and I can't even get water to dispense. Can you assist? Is this some kind of circuit problem or do I need a new fan?

That error comes from a failing fan due to ice build up which directly affects your ice maker.

This is an error code for the icemaker fan motor.
If the control does not see a signal coming back from the fan motor you will get this error code.
Please see the image below from the service manual that explains the ER IF error code.

The ER IF code indicates a failure of the icing fan.

You may notice slower ice production but the other fans should be okay.

You can select the ultra ice option and see if the fan toggles on.

The fan or the control is bad.

The Er Co error code signifies a communication error between the display control board on the freezer door and the main power board on the outer back panel of the refrigerator.

Check the wiring and connections between the low voltage interface and the main high voltage board.

If you are able to unplug the refrigerator and remove the cover over the control board on the back of the refrigerator,
you can check the wiring connection on the main control board.

If this wiring connection is okay, check the wire harness connection under the hinge cover on the top of the left hand refrigerator door.
If these connections are okay, then you will need access the wire harness connection in the dispenser.

ER IF means error icing fan, the problem is with a little board that is behind the water dispenser. Change this board and you will be in business.
