You did the right thing. Are you sure the date battery is installed correctly? The + side of the battery should be facing up when you place the battery in its holder. (The + side is the completely flat face of the battery. The side with the "button" is the negative side.)

  • anamouse Sep 13, 2014

It's possible the contacts for the small battery are dirty or bent. That small battery is what maintains the date and time.

Either the replacement battery was dead or the camera needs to be serviced. If the date/time needs to be reset every time the camera powers up, the camera is not receiving the power it needs from the date battery.

Need correct day and time on Olympus FE 170 digital camera

How do I set the date and time on the FE-170?

To access the clock controls, turn the mode dial to any shooting mode except [GUIDE] and then press the [MENU] button. Next, press the Right arrow on the arrow pad to select the [Setup] icon. Using the Up or Down arrow, navigate to the menu item depicting a clock. Press the [OK] button to access the clock settings feature.
Set the year, month, day, hour, minutes and date format using the following procedure: Use the Up and Down arrows to select values, and press the Right arrow to advance to the next item. (The FE-170 uses a 24-hour clock.) When all information has been entered, press the [OK] button to set the values. Press [MENU] twice to exit the menu.
To set the time precisely, with the cursor on either "minutes" or "date format," press the [OK] button as the time signal strikes 0 seconds.
The date and time settings will be returned to the factory defaults if the camera is left without batteries for approximately three days. Custom settings may be canceled more quickly if the batteries were only loaded into the camera for a short time before being removed. Before taking important shots, check that the date and time are correct.

After battery change on my 2001 avalon the time/date reset to default even I set the time/date correctly then turn off the ignition and turn back on again then the time/date reset to default again .

If some connections were changed then the ALWAYS ON +12 volt to the clock circuit back up is not powered all the time . check if while the battery was changed if there was any link that was disconnected that is the continuous supply to the clock.

Each time I remove the battery from my Nikon CoolPix 4300, the clock returns to a default of 2002 (in the LCD window the date shows as 000000. Each time I use the camera I have to reset the clock and date....

I probably need more details but, it sound like when you remove the battery to recharge it, the clock loses any power it had. Most people have a second battery. When the first battery begins to lose power, they insert the fully charged battery so the clock is only without power for a few seconds. Try that.

    CLOCK (manually)
You can manually set the date, year and present time
    with the remote control.
Ex.: Setting the clock to “10:20AM” October, 30th, 2004.
1 Select “CLOCK” and press ENTER.
    01/01/04 12:00AM
2 Select the desired items using or (month,
date, year, hour, minute and AM/PM) then press

3 Press or to set the value of the selected
    item.
    • For the minutes, press or once to set the time
minute by minute, or hold down either of buttons
for several seconds to set the time in 10-minute
    intervals.

present time, and press ENTER. The SETUP MENU
    will close.
    This completes clock time setting.
    AUTO CLOCK
You can automatically set the clock by turning “ON” the
    AUTO CLOCK function.
When you want to set the auto clock function to “OFF”,
select “AUTO CLOCK”, press ENTER and select “OFF”
    from the list.

    Auto clock setting
    Preparation:
You must connect the antenna or cable before connecting
the AC cord to the power source.
Wait 30 minutes with the power turned off, after the
antenna or cable is connected, for the auto clock
    feature to activate.
After the clock is set automatically, you may have to set
the time zone and daylight saving time. (See page 26.)
Press STANDBY/ON to turn on the DVD/VCR after the
    auto clock operation completed.
    • When shipped from the factory, the “AUTO CLOCK”
option is set to “ON” position.
    • If you turn the DVD/VCR on during auto clock
setting, the clock is not set.
    • After a power failure or disconnection of the power
plug, the clock setting will be lost. In this case, wait
30 minutes before turning the DVD/VCR on.
    • With cable box connection, if the auto clock setting
is unsuccessful, select the PBS channel carrying
the XDS information, then turn the DVD/VCR off.
After 30 minutes, turn the DVD/VCR on.
    • If the clock is not set automatically, set the clock
    manually.

    STANDARD TIME (Time zone)
In the rare event that you live within the broadcast range
of two stations in two different time zones, the DVD/VCR
may recognize the wrong station for the auto clock set.
    To correct the situation:
Select “STANDARD TIME” and select the time zone from
    the list below.
Selectable time zones and correction times
    ATLANTIC: GMT – 4 hours
    (GMT: Greenwich Mean Time)
    EASTERN: GMT – 5 hours
    CENTRAL: GMT – 6 hours
    MOUNTAIN: GMT – 7 hours
    PACIFIC: GMT – 8 hours
    ALASKA: GMT – 9 hours
    HAWAII: GMT – 10 hours
    AUTOMATIC: AUTO SET
    Note
    • When shipped from the factory, the “TIME ZONE” is
    set to “AUTOMATIC”.
    • After making the auto clock setting, in some cases
the clock may display another time zone. You can
correct the clock by selecting your time zone
    setting above.
    • When the clock is not set or you set the clock
manually, the time zone setting is not available.
    DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME
You can set the clock to daylight saving time automatically
    or manually.
To select daylight saving time, select “DAYLIGHT
SAVING TIME” and select “ON”, while to cancel the
    daylight saving time, select “OFF”.
ON: For manual setting (forward 1 hour)
OFF: For manual setting (back 1 hour)
AUTOMATIC: For automatic setting (read XDS in
    the signal)
    Note
    • When you want to set daylight saving time, on the
first Sunday in April you set it to “ON”, and on the
last Sunday in October you set it to “OFF”.
    • When shipped from the factory, the “DAYLIGHT
SAVING TIME” option is set to “AUTOMATIC”.
    • When the clock is not set, the daylight saving time
    setting is not available.
    • When there is no daylight saving time in your area,
    always select “OFF”.

I Have to Reset The Date an Time Everytime I turn the camera on

The following is from the manual which you can download on the link below: http://world.casio.com/qv/download/en/manual/ So it seems that you must either keep the battery charged or leave the camera connected to the USB dock (with PC on)! If your camera is not keeping the time for the 30 hours stated then it's probably time for a new battery.

Date time setting does not program

There is not an option to remember the date/time when you power off the camera. The camera should always remember the time. If it forgets the setting when you power it off then your backup battery has gone dead. Check your manual to see if it is something you can replace yourself. I am not familiar with this camera specifically but some cameras make the backup battery accessible and some require disassembly. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
