If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

My Samsung dryer (DV40J3000EW/A2) is not drying clothes all the way!

Question edited for spelling 'Lent' to 'Lint'.

The auto dry feature uses a humidistat to sense the amount of moisture in the air as it is exiting the dryer.

The thermistor / thermostat is a heat sensing device and that is the one to change first. If inaccurate it cuts the heat off to soon resulting in a warm heat drying cycle instead of HOT.

There are two other devices, a thermal fuse which will cut power when the dryer over heats and it doesn't sound like yours is. Finally there is a Thermal Cut Out, and when it overheats so badly the fuse breaks and has to be renewed.

The other thing to check is the the vent outside is clear of lint and that the flap or grille vents are opening fully when the dryer is running..

Good videos, and the second video shows testing components.

Clothes not getting dry

sounds like perhaps you are losing your heating element...could be electronic, but it's most likely the actual element needs to be replaced...

Bosch condensation dryer when on heated dry clothes come out steaming hot not dry

Sounds like something's blocking the hot damp air being removed from the drier. If you are confident enough, go through the drier vent system looking for a blockage. If not get a good DIY neighbour or appliance engineer. Silly question, is the drum turning?

Dryer is not heating up to dry the clothes

Hi there,
Well if your dryer tumbles, but there is no heat then you may please check out the following -
1. First of all you can check out for proper air flow - Check the vent for proper air flow by placing your hand over the exterior vent while the dryer is running. You should feel a strong flow of air. If not then check the lint trap. It is located either on top of the dryer or possibly just inside the door. Remove any lint that has built up in the lint trap. Cleaning the lint trap should be done regularly, even as often as after every load. Do not operate the dryer without a lint trap in place.
2. Secondly you can check out the Ignitor - gas dryer blows air through a burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low or no heat and slow drying of the clothes.

Whirpool dryer takes 3 hours to dry jeans or towels.

Most likely your heating element has partially failed. Some dryers have two separate resistance heaters in them. If one fails what you are describing can happen. If you have the tools and are willing to take it in it's not that bad a job. You have to take the cover off the dryer to see it, then it is two bolts. Any appliance repairman can handle this easily.

Once we put a load of wet clothes in the dryer after about 3 minutes the dryer shuts off. The top of the dryer becomes extremely hot. We open the dryer door and let it cool down and then the dryer starts...

Wet clothing doesn't allow proper ventilation while tumbling clothes. This in turn causes electrical shorts: steam in chamber and reduces airflow. Reduced airflow will will cause the drier to shut off on an over temperature condition. Moral of story, spin clothes as dry as you can and when tumbling, make sure you have good ventilation to get best results.

Dryer working but takes quite a long time to dry clothes

Hi either the vents are clogged with lint and you will have to get those brushes to clean the lent traps. or it is the element. Probably the former and not the latter. But it depends on the age of the dryer.

Thermostat controls heat. There is also a

motor centrifugal switch, in the element

circuit, that the motor closes to insure

the motor is turning. Try another heat

setting. There is more than one

thermostat. You may have blown the

'thermal fuse' too, which requires

replacement. The element has a contact in

the 'timer' circuit too.
It is possible that your element has

failed also.

Tripped high limit. Must clean the lint

filter and the exhaust vent tube and all

the way in to the dryer. Hot air exit is

restricted.
