To delete the entire card the easiest way, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions.

Sounds like the shutter is jammed shut, possible due to sand or oil. Do the Menus work ? If they do that tells you the LCD is OK. Sounds like the cameras need to go to a repairer.

try formatting in the menu.WARNING this WILL delete all images from camera. if it will not let you camera needs service

did you drop it?, most likely this occurs of people drop their cameras and the inside connection dislocates. simple solution is to take it apart and fix any loose connection on the lcd and put it bak together. if that doesn't solve it, order a new lcd for it, unless if it's lesss of a hastle getting a new camera

i also have this kind of prob for my ixus. the menu is operating very well, except its shooting - i can only show a black blank screen.

Sounds like you (inadvertently?) had the Color Accent Mode turned on (an icon which shows an eyedropper with an A next to it), which is available on the same menu where you select Manual Mode.

When you press the Func/Set button, with the icon in the top left corner highlighted, along the bottom you will see the options available, including the Color Accent Mode, any of which are selectable by using the left/right arrows and pressing the Func/Set button again.
