I have an eView 17f3 computer monitor that was manufactured in November of 2004. I began to disassemble it for fun because I hadn't used it in a few years and didn't expect to need it. When I saw all of the CRT warnings I thought I'd better look for more information on what I was dealing with. I had no idea there was a CRT in it, let alone what a CRT was! I've been searching for clear instructions on how to safely break the vaccum seal but haven't been totally sure about it. Now that I have this thing sitting in my garage (everything is disconnected from the CRT) can you tell me how to proceed?

Well that is 17,000 volts there 17kv and can be lethal .
CRT is cathode ray tube and 2nd anode is 17kv, 1kv per inch screen.. we use a chicken stick to discharge that.
one guy gut hit here and flew across the room ,hit head and next up paramedics deep.. not fun to see that. ive taking 600v but never again.

vaccum seal, why do that.??? send it to the , toxic lead recycle center, let them do the danger work
when I was only 16yo I worked in TV shop and I had do that "nnipp" that in the bud on all CRT sent off to refurb. (or toxic trash) (we sold them all here, you name it)
we had to remove the socket there find he glass bud there dead center and full PPE, and snap it with wire cutters and it sucks in air fast. later in military too on old radar scopes, i worked .
the vacuum inside is pure and prefect, zero gasses.
implosion hazard exists. a glass flies in the bounces out and hits you and then next up blind i one eye. leave CRT alone to the trained.

SOURCE: frequency out of range

the monitors resolution range is only to 1280X740 or 780
and your video card may also need an upgrade.
The game may require a higher resolution that is not compatible with the the devices mentioned.

I have a strange issue with my monitor. For some reason any time I boot up a game and get to the main menu my monitor will turn itself on and off. Once I press new game the problem quits. This has happened...

Hello there
try these hints
1) change if you can to another monitor and see if can reproduce the problem, if the problem indeed is there, then your issue come from the video card., but if not, the issue is your monitor video modes changing circuit inside the monitor board. just that

My emachine will not come on-just makes beeping sounds every few sec. is it my hard drive

When you here a beeps during turn on that is a RAM problem. So you need to check the RAM remove it first and clean the dust. Use also the other memory slot

Please pull out the memory and clean the silver coating pins with a rubber eraser to clean dust and stains that causes disconnection.

Wont go to normal start up screen!!!

The screen that you're seeing is the self-test of the monitor, as it's already stated. It's commonly caused by having no signal coming from the computer to the monitor. You were advised to check the monitor cable, if you have already done that, then proceed with isolating the problem. Follow these simple steps:
  1. If you have another computer, try your monitor there. If it's also possible, try another monitor on your computer.
  2. If the computer works on another monitor then check the cable for any dents or damage. If isolation can't be done, no extra monitor/computer, then just continue.
  3. Check the lights on your computer when you turn it. The power light, keyboard lights and fans should be all working.
  4. Check for any beeps
  5. If the computer seems to have life but giving no display, proceed with troubleshooting the video card.
  6. If you're not comfortable opening up computer, I advise you to contact a local technician.
  7. Check if you have a built-in video card by looking at the orientation of you monitor cable at the back of the tower. If it's vertical, you have a built-in, if it's horizontal, you have an expansion video card.
  8. If you have expansion video card, proceed with the next step, otherwise contact a local tech or you computer's manufacturer.
  9. Get your computer's manual and follow the instructions on how to open it. If it's not available, then contact a local tech or try to figure it out on your own. Make sure that the computer is unplug, when you open the tower and ground yourself properly (use an anti-static wrist strap).
  10. Expansion video card is usually connected to a brown connector on the motherboard (the big circuit board inside your computer) if it's not, refer to your manual if where it is located.
  11. Disconnect the monitor cable then unscrew the video card from the computer case. Remove it, clean the contacts with a clean cloth then put it back. Make sure that is properly seated in the slot.
  12. Reconnect everything then try to turn it on.
  13. If it works, that great, otherwise, I will highly advise to contact a technician that can personally work on your computer.

Pictures on monitor are fuzzy and pixelated. How do I fix this?

Hi shawnpoynter
You may have to change the resolution of your monitor. You may be using a low resolution at the moment.
  • Go to the Desktop, right click,
  • Left click on Personalyse,
  • click on Display settings -
  • choose a higher resolution.
Hope this will solve your problem.
Have a good day.

The screen flickers into hour-glass figure.

It's the tube going out. You need to replace it. If you want to stay with CRT monitors, you should be able to pickup a used one for around $10.00 on Craigslist.

Hi again,

It would seem that you posted your problem several times. As stated in my proposed solution in your other postings:
Unfortunately, an HCL HCM782M monitor is an unknown model. However, on similar instances and occurrence of this problem, it would seem that the controls are damp. Specifically, it would be the internal contacts of the buttons. Pls check if you can dis-assemble, remove the board/control/buttons and perform cleaning. Pls pay particular attention to the rubber pads or the small buttons themselves. if I may ask, any recent continuous rain? If yes, this may have contributed or caused your problem.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Unlocked e-machines 17f3

It depends on the monitor, but try holding the Menu and Right arrow button together.
