Westell Wirespeed VersaLink (A99-327W11-00) Router (A99327W1100) Logo
Posted on Aug 21, 2010

We currently have our wireless internet through Century Link. We are renting a Westell 7500 router from Century Link. We want to purchase our own router ( preferably the same exact router we are renting). I have found some on sale on e-bay but they all say Verizon on them. Will the Verizon Westell 7500 router work with our wireless internet even though our service is through Century Link?

yES I AM NOW USING A 99 CENT WESTELL 7500 ON CENTURYLINK AND SENT THEIRS BACK SAVING THE LEASE FEE------------YOU HAVE TO COPY ALL YOUR SETTINGS DOWN ON YOUR OLD MODEM FIRST THEN SET THEM IN THE VERIZON . YOU WILL HAVE TO SET THE PPPoe mode and bridge ip . the most inportans is the VPI =8 and the vci-35 to get a lock on the dsl .also Click the my network link
    Click the network connections link
Click the versaport link or the versaport edit button
Select pppoe or routed ip (dhcp
) you can remove the ppp password as it will not work on centurylink . you can however set your admin password . the default password is admin and the password is password ..

For anyone trying g to use a Westell 7500 factory set for PPP (like Verizon) on a DHCP service, here is what I had to change to get mine to work on Centrylink DHCP service.

    Under network connections change:
VPI to 8 should of been 0
    VCI leave at 35
    PPP change to bridge
below that change bridge to routed bridge
    check DHCP enable
    click apply at bottom

This works fine wired and wireless and I don't need an additional router.

How did you bypass the Verizon sign in page? I was told you can disable the Walled Garden, by going to 192.168.1.1/Verizon/redirect.htm, I did that but it came up with an error massage. I will like to return my Centurylink modem as well. Please help. Thanks

Thanks Chip I am on line with VERIZON Westell 7500 modem and my service provider is Centurylink, I was renting the modem, now I will return it to them and save me some money. I did not even have to bother to walled Garden the Verizon page. I used the same page to configure my connection. I did exactly as you explained above and wha....la I was on the internet. Even though on the gatway it said not connected. Everything is working fine!!!! Thanks Chip

The Westell 7500 is not just a router. It's a gateway (for DSL), a 4 port LAN (wired network), wireless router and can be made into a bridge, for use with a router of your choice.
It's my understanding there are modem/routers out now and you would simply set them up with the settings found in the Westell.

I have heard with Century Link that you have to rent their router because they won't give you any support in even trying to set it up or if you have any issues. This was from a worker at Staples who has had multiple people come in trying to do the same thing unsuccessfully. He said even if you buy the same brand it wouldn't work because they wouldn't support it.

I have a century link westell 7500 wireless router to which I would like to connect a D-Link Wireless n Powerline router to get extended range to other areas of my house. I have connected it according to...

Try moving your laptop closer to the range extender. If it connects then you know the range extender isn't extending the signal enough. So then either move laptop or maybe extender.

Do i need a wireless router if i have westell 6100f

Yes. The Westell 6100f is not a wireless modem, therefore, you will need to get a wireless router to connect wireless computers.

Or if your ISP is Verizon and you want a wireless modem/router, you may contact them and replace the Westell 6100f with a Westell Versalink 327w, or Westell 7500, or an Actiontec.

Hope this helps!

Connecting new Linksys WRT160n to existing modem Westell 7500

You have to call your internet provider and ask them to help you put the Westell modem in "Bridged ethernet" mode. This will by-pass the Westell modem and use your linksys as the wireless.

For AT&T:
