The Sony DSC-H2 and DSC-H5 have a terrible shutter button design and the tiny little "bubble" that is responsible for the "half press focus" can be easily damaged.
If you do a Google search for "Sony shutter button repair" you will see the #1, 2 and 3 links are all for www darntoothysam com. We have done hundreds of this repair over the years!
The repair service is just $70 total IF we can repair it without replacing the part, installation and return shipping of the camera. Please visit our site, we would be happy to service your camera.
Hope this helps!

Affordable Digital Camera Repair
hi
if you are feeling a little DIY, then its not a terribly difficult problem, to fix but if you have stupid hands or are not confident in your abilties then rather let the pro's handle it.
step 1 Download the service manual, just google it, :D
Basically you need to replace part number 1-479-699-11 its the whole assembly that contains the little bubble switch mentioned above , its not very difficult to do but be very VERY careful of the capacitator for the flash, it will shock you and its not fun, and can damage the camera, in the service manual you can find step by step instructions on how to discharge it, but even if you have a little doubt, let a PRO do it!
i "repaired" the bubble switch by manipulating the blue ribbon harness where it goes into the black plastic housing on the front of the unit.
it normally curves out and down into the lower assembly, but i pushed the curve inwards and created an artificial bubble which now allows the AF to function correctly.
i don't know how long it will last but until i get the money to buy the whole assembly it will satisfy my needs.
