If compressor is running, have you given it enough time to recover? or you may have a faulty thermal protector on the compressor. Cold control setting on right position?
I have had the same problem with my frigidaire/electrolux upright freezer... I am researching to see if there is a pattern. Once or twice a year for the past few years, the freezer defrosted itself. I found the outside of the unit to be VERY hot to the touch around the time that this occurred.
We typically unplug it for a chunk of time when this happens and then replug it. It has always begun working again.
Sadly, we have lost many groceries and have had to clean many bloody meat messes as a result of this. ANYONE buying this freezer should save their receipt... That way, they can return it or have it repaired when it fails. I hate to think of sending all of these failing monstrosities to the landfill... =(
look at level side to side , and front to back. if not level door can leak . you will see water where it is leaking. check defroster is if staying on .
Sounds like frost bulidup from door being left open warm air gets in making frost and ice. Need to turn off for 24hrs or so to let all the ice melt compleatey then turn back on keep door closed run for 24hrs check Temp. shoud be about 0 to -5 Deg. if good start using.
Whenever you get a frig or freezer delivered it is best to wait at least 24hrs (some say 8 hrs) before you plug in. It maybe unknown to you if this was shipped to you in the laying down postion. If it was and you plugged in it will not work because laying down the oil migrated away from the compressor.
Other than that the freezer could have (possible chance but still possible) problems that are out of your control. If you brought it at a retail store you have at least 2 weeks to exchange. Do that a.s.a.p.
Dont bother trying to figure out just exchange!!!
freezers have a range of ambient temperature uses
most are plus 10c to 35c if using some units in garages etc. they just dont work...too cold for the poor things...
Here is a link that can help. Let me know what you find while you look at the PDF. Is this your refrigerator? Let me Know, Thanks, Sea Breeze.
Temp. control should be on page 4 part number 18 Turn left for warmer or right for colder. If this don't work then the control will need replaced.
