  • Turn your Timex Ironman face down and remove the four screws holding the back cover in place.
  • Remove the back case cover by gently prying it up with your screwdriver. Be careful to avoid disrupting any electrical contacts with the tip of your screwdriver.
  • Remove the interior sticker that covers the battery by lifting it up with the tip of your screwdriver. It should come off relatively easily. At this point the small circular battery should be visible in the compartment.
  • Lift up the small metal clip (battery strap) that covers the battery using the tip of your screwdriver.
  • Remove the battery from its housing and replace it with your new battery (available at any electronics store or online). Reassemble the watch in the same way you to took it apart.

  • OR take to a professional jewelry store/watchmaker.
    Good luck.

extra timex ironman watch battery replacement tips:
Buy watch batteries on amazon, they are 5 for the price of 1 at wal mart. $6.95
The dollar store was $4 for 1 and that is another option.

the gold spring must be above not under the metal ring that holds the batterry.
the disc on the back of the casing is the speaker!
That spring must contact the gold metal spring or the speaker wont chime

sometimes you can put something together, and it all appears right, but it still doesn't work. This happened t o me.
I took it apart again, and put it all back together seemingly the same way, and the 2nd try worked, but i don't know why.

make sure it is fully functional before screwing the screws in.

Put the back on without having the screws dangling from the wholes. I tried to insert the back and the screws at the same time and one of the screws flew at me and almost in my mouth!

Why did hands come off during watch battery replacement?

If the hands of your watch have come off after replacing the battery, it could be due to a few different issues. Here are some possible causes and solutions:
    1. Improper installation: If the hands were not properly aligned when the battery was replaced, it could cause them to come off when the watch is turned face-up. Make sure that the hands are properly aligned and securely fastened to the watch movement before reassembling the watch.
    2. Loose or damaged hands: If the hands were loose or damaged before the battery replacement, they may have come off when the watch was turned face-up. Check the hands for any damage or wear and if necessary, replace them with new hands.
    3. Damaged watch movement: If the watch movement was damaged during the battery replacement process, it could cause the hands to come off when the watch is turned face-up. Have the watch movement inspected by a professional watch repair technician.
    4. Incorrect battery size: If the incorrect battery size was used to replace the old battery, it could cause the hands to come off when the watch is turned face-up. Make sure you are using the correct battery size and type for your watch.
    5. Incorrectly set the hands: During the battery replacement, if the hands were moved or set incorrectly, it could cause them to come off when the watch is turned face-up. Double check that the hands are set to the correct time and position.

How to replace battery for Timex expedition

Remove the four screws that hold the battery cover on the back of the watch. Remove the 3 very small screws that hold the battery in place. Remove the battery from the battery holder. The piece that the 3 small screws were removed from seperates from the 3 volt 2016 energizer battery. Replace the battery with a new one. Re-install the battery holder to the watch. There is a small tab on the lower left part of the battery holder that needs to be depressed to activate the watch. Depress it and look at the face of the watch to make sure it is activated. The watch will need to have the time, date etc reset but you should now be able to see that the battery is working. Replace the battery cover and reset the time and date as needed.
