sounds like you have another channel set for priority and it is scanning back to check that channel. In the manual mode scroll thru channel's until you find one set with a "p" or "pri" on the screen. Hit the priority button and this should resolve the problem.

Oops, misplaced my manual for my Midland LXT walkie talkie radios. How do I get a specific channel to use. When I push the scan button it goes thru channels 1 thru 22 but how do I stop it on a specific...

bobduffy39,

Channels are selected by tapping the center button once then using the arrows. The next tap of the center takes you to the CTCSS, DCS, and other functions follow. When scanning simply tap the transmit button and it should stop on the selected channel. Channels 8-14 are FRS channels at 500mw. These are the preferred channels to use for most people. 1-7and 15-22 are considered GMRS and requires a FCC License. Many people have been known to use these channels without having the license. This form of pirating is not recommended. I have included these links which could be of help to you.

If there is no frequencies on your scanner it will lock all channels out. if all your frequencies are on one bank and you accidentally hit that bank number and turn it off it will lock out all channels. If that's the case just hit that bank no. back on and they will unlock.

How do i program my BC 55xlt uniden scanner?

To program:

Turn on radio.

It will be in scan mode. Press Manual (orange button) to stop scanning.
Press Manual button to step through channels to get to the one you want.
(Or press channel number and then manual button)

If "LockOut" is displayed it means this channel isn't being "Scanned."
Pressing Lockout will toggle the status.

To program:

Select channel. Use keypad to enter frequency. Use "E" for Enter
key. If the radio displays an E this means Error. Usually, the
frequency you typed in is outside of the capabilities of the scanner.

Once you hit the E you will immediately start hearing anything that's
out there on the frequency you entered.

Push the "Review" button and the scanner will display the frequency
that is programmed for the channel. A "-" will be displayed for the
decimal point.

Programming Bearcat BC 55XLT Scanner

Ok doc, I'll see if I can walk you thru this as there don't seem to be a manual available for download.
* Push manual button and bring it around to channel #1
Enter the freq including the decimal point. Push the E button to enter the freq into the first channel.
* Push manual again and move to channel #2 and repeat.
If you need some new freq's for your area, go here, click on your state, county, and it'll give you a complete rundown.

Jumping channels

My best guess is that there is a priority channel or channels marked, and it is jumping to that priority channel as soon as someone keys up. Look on your readout for a channel marked with a P. You might have to step thru the channels manually to check them. Hope this helps,,, Mechanic
