well it worked! but there were steps not mentioned in the manual. to help anyone else having the same ANNOYING problem as me, i pressed the source or power button until it displayed "all off" on the screen. then i held the play/pause button down until it said "security" on the display screen then i used the am/fm buttons to scroll through the options and i saw "clock adj" and pressed the play/pause button again. then i was able to change the hours using the am/fm buttons and the minutes by using the scroll keys. hope i can help someone else out! and thank you Benimur for your suggestion! you helped me solve my problem!well it worked! but there were steps not mentioned in the manual. to help anyone else having the same ANNOYING problem as me, i pressed the source or power button until it displayed "all off" on the screen. then i held the play/pause button down until it said "security" on the display screen then i used the am/fm buttons to scroll through the options and i saw "clock adj" and pressed the play/pause button again. then i was able to change the hours using the am/fm buttons and the minutes by using the scroll keys. hope i can help someone else out! and thank you Benimur for your suggestion! you helped me solve my problem!

It don't work like that. Each individual head unit has a seperate PIN code. Best bet is to get the serial number from your unit. Located on top or back of it, and call Kenwood direct with the serial the serial number, they have all codes on file, they can help. Here are the numbers
Kenwood Australia - 1800 126 659
USA - 1-800-KENWOOD (536-9663
If your lasers eye is dirty the just use a cd/calibrater disc They are cheap and the have a small brush with hairs on the disc that clean the surface of the eye.
Try putting the unit in standby via the "SRC" button FIRST..., then press the menu button and cycle through to the "AUX 1" option and activate this....then press menu button again. When the unit is next switched on, you should have an "AUX" option accessible via the "SRC" button which will cycle through all of the availale modes ....standby-tuner-cd-aux etc etc.
ill try that now. ill let you no in 5 min if it worked. thank you so much!
