Sansa clip says battery low even after charging

My Sansa clip went dead when I was listening to it. I plugged it in to charge over night and when I unplugged it from my pc it still said battery low and turned off. Can you please help? I downloaded and was going to use the recovery tool but can't find out how to use it with the sansa clip. It's completely dead so I don't know how to get it to the "recovery needed" screen. Help!!

I have a problem rather similar: I'll charge my MP3 all the way to max, but after listening to a playlist and turning it off, when I turn it back on, it says it has no charge left. So then I charge it again. It gets very aggravating after doing this about 12 times.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

If you have a printer and your printer has an usb connector place ,you can stick the big side into it . Trust me it's going to work, I am doing it now and it's working like it was before it messed up.

I have read on several posts that there is a problem with the red battery wire inside the player. If it's out of warranty, crack the case and see if the red wire is loose or broken. Resolder and it should be good to go.

My battery is dead, unrechargeable, however you can make it work by plugging it directly in power charger. I need a new battery. Tech support says it is irreplaceable. I took it apart. All I have to do is solder a new one in. Does anyone know where I can find a new battery?

You can keep the Sansa plugged in without fear of overcharging. The Sansa will play while it is connected to a USB port that is supplying only power, such as a USB charger operating off a car cigarette lighter. It will not play while connected to a computer.

Sansa Clip won't charge

Here's the thing, technically it doesn't need to be turned on because it's supposed to turn on by itself.

I've had a problem sort of like that. It might be the plug, but it also might be the computer. I'd either suggest try plugging it into another computer or getting a new plug.

Sansa Clip Won't take a charge...

Are you sure the cable you are using provides both data and power to the device? Some cables are data only and will not charge the device despite appearing so.

Has it held a charge before? If this is a new device and has not yet ran down then charged fully again yet, then I would return it.

Sansa Clip not holding charge

Locking the player will not allow the player to charge properly, no matter how long you have it plugged in.

Sansa 1g clip wont turn on.

did you try holding the power button on for ten seconds (the reset) after trying to charge it again? does it even power up when you plug it into the usb. if it powers on when connected to the usb and then shuts off immediately when you take it off the usb (rather than "refreshing database") then your battery is either 1)disconnected inside 2)dead or there may be issues with power management. Same thing happened to me (disconnected) but I soldered the loose connection and it only worked for two days, even checking the connections again. Now I don't know what's going on. It's more likely the battery has reached the end of its life.

Charging my 2gb sansa clip

You can charge it by leaving it plugged into the computer for 3-4 hours (usually less).
