you might need to remove upper and lower filtrs with filtercheck 4.6
then repair sonic dla (if it has sonic burning software you use)

SOURCE: Kingston 4gb sd card won't read
I had a problem with lenovo's reader like this, because i put in the nokia 6600 card, correct format and all, but apparently too old and not yet ment to be read by a computer ...
sd could still be hc ... the system of names is still not set up right. if you got a small black attachment for the card that makes it longer, put it on and try inserting the card again.
check if all the drivers are like they should be.
if you've got a friend with a card reader, make sure the card is ok. and if you've got a friend with a card, make sure the reader is like it's supposed to be
post a feedback, ok

the original file (apparently version 2.0) is here:

the updated driver (version 2.3) is located here:

scroll down to where you see RICOH card reader driver
or more specifically this link here:
http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/V6V/CardReader_XP_2K_050808.zip
even though the site is primarily in german, all the component names are in english, go figure. So it would seem that the asus comp manufacturer are a little more forthcoming than dell in this particular instance. for example, nowhere on my component sheet does it say that RICOH is the manufacturer for the card reader, that's something i got from you guys on the forums
anyway, after installing this driver and rebooting my comp, card reader immediately recognized both MMC and SD media. unfortunately, it was only able to access the mmc card, and i'll be shipping my comp off to dell for whatever motherboard replacement they're willing to give me (which i don't mind, so long as it works when it comes back to me) but i thought these links might be helpful for others who are having the same problem.

The card reader slot(s) appear as drives under Windows Explorer. It is accessed just like any other disk in the system.

You installed the driver for your card reader for the laptop. If its not recognizing any cards you put in there then that means the reader is bad and since that is integrated onto the motherboard, replacing the motherboard would be the only option in order to fix that problem.
