The flash unit is for still photos only. By design it can not be used when shooting video, because it can not stay lit (the flash fires from a stored electrical charge, and needs time to build up another charge).

It sounds like you may have the the camera in manual mode or that the Iris may be turned down. I am not sure if you model has an Iris control so make sure it is not in manual mode.
Do your videos come out dark when you play them back? Or Is it dark while you are recording?
If it's dark while you are recording, is it dark in the viewfinder, or the LCD screen?
If your videos come out dark when you play them back, check the manual exposure. Hit the exposure button and turn the sel/push execute wheel to change the exposure to lighter.
If you are looking through the view finder to record and it's dark, check to make sure the window is clean.
If your LCD screen looks dark while your recording, put the power switch to player, hit the menu button and scroll down to LCD, select it and turn the select wheel to brighter.

There is no night recording feature for the Samsung SC-DX103 model nor does it have a video light, I just purchased one from Circuit City on 12/8/08 and I might return it because being able to record in low light situations is a must have for camcorders.
it work 100%nice outdoor shooting in daylight.
I think u have to use another small flash light in indoor in the insufficient light.
I did that and got good result.
Recording a subject that is outside the flash range can cause the subject to appear dark in the resulting image, because not enough of the flash reaches the subject. When this happens, you can use flash assist to correct the brightness of the recorded subject, so it appears as if the flash illumination was sufficient. Note, however, that recording certain types of subjects may not produce the results you expect, even if you use flash assist.
