Most laptops have 2 memory slots, if you have 1 Gb of RAM using two 512 Mb RAM then you need to replace them with two 1 Gb RAM modules. If you have one RAM module 1 Gb then you only need to add another 1 Gb RAM module. Try to use the same make and speed RAM.

The memory module is located on the bottom of your laptop behind a panel which is held in place by a screw. The RAM module is a small circuit board approx 68mmX32mm with gold plated contacts along one edge. The RAM module is locked into the slot by a spring clip on each end of the RAM module. If you need to remove the existing RAM module, push each clip away from the RAM module and the RAM module will pop up with the edge still on the socket. Then remove the RAM module by sliding it away from the slot.
To insert a RAM modulr, place the RAM module in the slot and push it fully into the slot and then press the RAM module down until the spring clips click into place on the edges of the RAM module.
Replace the panel and secure it in place with the screw.
