Check the Bi-Metallic Strip (Thermostat) of kettle. It may require replacement.

take it back for a warranty replacement
cannot be fixed so replace it or junk it

Had the same problem with a 3 yr old 1.5l Dualit model JKT43. The problem was that the little grey presence switch in the bottom of the kettle which engages with the pillar on the base had worn. I put 2 layers of electrical insulation tape around the pillar on the base and problem fixed. However, this is not a good permanent solution.

Remove the small silver Dualit sticker from the pin side of the plug. There is a small screw inside that will undo the plug :)

Sounds like a problem with the element. If it's under warranty, take it back, otherwise contact a qualified repair person.

Very very dificult to replace. I have try it but then I have purchase a new complete base with element.

Our kettle has just broken so if you'd like our lid? - if so I'll pop it on ebay?!

I have a similar problem and spoke to Dualit who say that the element is probably blown. As the unit is sealed into the base it is not repairable and should be scrapped. Not really a solution more a way forward
