See if the motor is running. You should be able to hear it. If it is then you need to check the prime. If it is a prime issue then the motor runs the risk of never shutting off and could overheat.
Close the supply valve to the tank. Open the priming port of the pump, (plug on the upper most part of the casing) pour in water until the pump is filled -up. Close the plug just finger tight. Run the pump. slightly open the plug just to bleed the air with little water. If all water is coming out, the pump motor should cut-off indicating the pump is already primed. Gradually open the supply valve. Pump motor will restart again.
If water is back up above the intake, it should prime itself in a few minutes. As long as you don't let the case get hot to the touch it should be okay to run dry.
If it fails to prime and pump up pressure, you may have to prime it.
If you ran the pump dry, it probably needs to be primed again. Make sure that you bleed the air from the line and get a good prime. In a worse scenario, it is possible that you burned up the motor in your pool pump. If this is the case, you will likely have to replace the entire filter and pump system.
check electric fuel pump operation ( located in the fuel tank ). Occasionally a fuel pump will burn out when running out of fuel, due to the fact the pump runs DRY for about 30 seconds till the fuel stops flowing out of the injectors, the engine quits, simultainously losing oil pressure which FINALLY shuts off the fuel pump. Sometimes TOO LATE. Hope this helps
Pumps for 15 seconds stops for 30. Starts again
